Its definintely a two way street here. There has been astonishing behaviour from both sides of the table, not just the "minority" community of SimHQ.

Just wondering why posting negative community posts is ok from guys complaining about negative community posts..... conundrum ???

Anyway back on topic.

I do love some of the Swedish aircraft. If what you say is true and this aircraft is on the table and comes on in full fidelity, then I may just have to pull out my wallet.

Truth be told, and even if some of this is just talk. The fact is that there is more scope for DCS with these developers and just with ED alone. So for that I am thankful as there is nothing else to move to.

Again...just because you like to show up once a month or so when there is a dust up doesn't mean the entire time the forum is that way all the time.

I guess the last month of peace and civil discussion gave you no reason to come in here. The SimHQ community is what
you make of it. It definitely seems the order of the day is to just ignore the good stuff that goes on here 90% of time...and God forbid...actually contribute...instead just swing by when there is a heated discussion and point fingers.

I certainly don't see a lot of the folks that are complaining about the community here posting screenshots, telling stories about missions etc. when times are good.

If you want to see how good the SimHQ community can be...head over to the WOFF section where the developer interacts with the community and there is a mutual respect between all parties.

You keep referring to people "showing up", like unless you're posting all the time you're not part of the community or something. There are plenty of people who read the forums regularly but don't post very often.

I'm sure there are plenty of people who visit the forums regularly and haven't even signed up yet for various reasons; I think I was checking this forum daily (probably when that first il-2 demo came out?) for a long time before I signed up, I felt a little intimidated about posting at all for some reason.

Also, I think you're ignoring the distinct probability that people are here, "showing up", but read the forum and are completely disheartened and dejected by what's going on.

Some decent points there.

My point was if they were here reading the forum everyday...then they would realize they are complaining about one bad day out of the last 30 days of peace and civil discussion. Instead...they have a "perception" that every single thread is moaning...I bolded that statement as it's a direct quote from one of the complaints...and it just isn't true.

Everyone has different views of what's an acceptable comment to make...SimHQ has rules that we are supposed to moderate by and having a negative opinion about a product isn't against the rules here...some would like it to be.

Force10. I hope you are getting paid for moderating. If not, you need an f'ing medal mate. Too many times I have seen you cop the blunt end of the stick undeservedly.

Anyway, back on topic......

Remains to be seen I guess, either this month or the next. Definitely hoping so, having a strike version to intercept Soviet ships heading West would be an amazingly interesting and refreshing experience to introduce into DCS after all this time with the old 21st century Black Sea map.

Thanks, and I do get your point about perception vs. the day to day reality of the forum. Like many other people have said, I'm sure a lot of this has to do with the fact that there just isn't much going on right now so it can lead to more debates/arguments going round and round in circles.

I have to say though, and mean this very respectfully, it seems like you're not fully getting what a lot a people are complaining about.

I'm sure there really are small minority of people that would "like it to be", as you say, that having a negative opinion is not allowed in this forum, but I don't think the people who are complaining in this thread about what's happened to this forum are them, do you? (I mean that sincerely, I'm not trying to be sarcastic or anything).

I guess I just worry that lots of people are kind of being 'lumped in' with these very few people who don't want any negative posts allowed (which is crazy and not something I think the most people would want)

Is there any hope in getting back to the original subject? This is September. A new month is upon us. With it I hope there will be an announcement. I am curious what everyone speculates the new airplane will be...

Hoping for an announcement?........shouldn't we at least be getting the release of 1.5 this month from ED which will hopefully allow/enable 3rd parties to plan their own interim or full releases that have been getting backed up from ED's delays!

DCSW 1.5 might be released in September but like September 52nd. When a dev says X month, they always mean the last hour of the last day of that month, plus two weeks to fix some bugs and test.

Doom and gloom make good drama but SimHQ and DCS community is fine. It is excited when new things are released or announced, negative after delays or bugs, and quiet in between. Concern trolling about how kids these days is just that, trolling.

Even if it goes too far or is unpopular, a periodic pressure or checking of promises vs. deliveries I think is a necessary motivation. We should point out when deadlines are passed or promises are perceived not to be kept even if it's not critical. Likewise we should argue if that perception is misunderstood. What I never want to see is a day when a promise broken is not discussed or pointed out by anybody because all the meaning and trust and energy to believe is gone.

Fear the day when you say "April for sure" and April comes and goes and no one reacts at all.

Keep in mind V1.5 will be an alpha. So we're a year late and it will only be an alpha. That means you will not want to play it. Alphas are always broken, missing content and buggy. Not something I want to deal with in my spare time. They never said, and probably don't know, when a release version will be ready. I think early 2016 is probable.

1.5 will be a Beta, not an Alpha - a public Beta at that.

No, it isn't a beta despite what ED wants to call it. BETAs are feature complete and are released for wider debugging. This by definition is an alpha, it is not feature complete

My understanding is they've already announced that some features won't make it into 1.5 launch, therefore it will be feature complete for what they're releasing. More will be added down the line, presumably when 2.0 is launched with the new maps.

Who cares if its called alpha or beta.
It's 1.5, and it will be much better than 1.2.16. That's everything I need to know.

Am I the only one disappointed when Wagner started to talk about missiles at the end of the "announcement". Would have been better to say..."I got nothing to say". That was such crap. I waited on the edge of my seat for that...

Oh yeah. My jaw literally speaking dropped at the end of that pile of nonsense to be honest. I don't understand why they keep doing these things. Most people would just have said "this will just be a short update, we don't have much", but they went all "hey guys, stay tuned for this awesome update on something you've all been waiting for!"

And to top it off, it was the most self serving, hypocritical drivel. "Old games (BMS) have given people a bad understanding of how AMRAAMs work and how effective they are. Oh btw, we've just gotten started on basic things like the missile continuing on the calculated intercept course if radar contact is broken, instead of just going ballistic." Seriously? That is a very basic, simple thing in BMS, so maybe they shouldn't be so disrespectful of it when they can't do better 20 years later? All I took away from that was "the Russians are right. Standby for more 5 mile range AMRAAMs".

Completely agree, oh well maybe they'll eventually get around to modeling everything that goes with ground munitions like frag, air burst, etc. Not to mention killer accurate bmp's that are more accurate than a radar guided gun (aka shilka's).
