I know a few guys on th ATAG forums have been discussing win10 and CloD, with varying degrees of success/ filaure. For some it simply doens't work, and for others there have been performance gains! At the moment, I cannot see any spcific or consistent resons why this is the case... We had a similar discussion on SoW here: http://stormofwar.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=2125 But it hasn't really moved on much, I think most folks are stickign with existing OS installations that work, rather than risk it!

I second that. I rolled back without any drama at all...got all my functionality back, CoD works in all flavours, sound card works again, so luckily I can report that (so far) the roll back option works though it is a bit cheeky that you only have one month to do it. Now I just need to find out how to get Windows 10 out of my update queue! Even though I uncheck it, every time I reboot I get notified that the update is downloading and will soon be ready to install...maybe I should jut let it download, but not install it. H EDIT: I see problem. I had previously set autoupdate to 'download but do not install'. The rollback reset it back to 'autoupdate everything'. Cheeky frickers. PS just in case you thought that turning off all those 'send all my data to Microsoft' options actually works, see article here: http://arstechnica.com/information-techn...g-to-microsoft/There is a reason Windows10 is free - MS is going to suck up and commercialise all your data people.

Heinkill,I suggest you make use of the Windows 'image' backup facility just for future reference. It's a godsend.I did a clean install of 7,ran all updates, drivers etc plus installed my most popular games and then created an image. It proved invaluable whilst I wrestled with multiple installs of Win 10.

Just out of curiosity, were you using sweetfx, injectfx or some other post processing video software? These are not yet compatible with win10 and will keep the game from starting.

A clause in the services agreement, Section 7b to be precise, states that Windows 10 users have to allow Microsoft to automatically check for counterfeited software "We may automatically check your version of the software and download software updates or configuration changes, including those that prevent you from accessing the Services, playing counterfeit games, or using unauthorised hardware peripheral devices," reads the agreement. Win 10 can disable hacked hardware and illegal software, and steal your lunch and your wife!

Plain vanilla. Though to run on Win8.1 it needs CloDer.exe. Hey I just got an email saying 'congratulations on upgrading to Windows 10.' H

That's odd H.I've done that to 3 systems so far without issue. In fairness I haven't had to install an important update since.I thought that once an update was 'hidden' it was hidden for good. This may be a constant battle.

Another thing I did to get rid of the downloaded Win 10 files is to run 'disk cleanup' select 'clean up system files' and tick 'Temporary Installation Files'.It could be quite big 5+ gigs. You might also want to un-install KB 2952664 and KB 2976978 (both Win 10 'nagware' updates).
*I just ran an important update on another system that has the Win 10 update hidden and it stayed hidden*

Damn thing tried to install 10 again this morning.I'm really getting pi$$ed off with having this forced on me.I don't want 10.I should be able to completely opt out of having it forced down my throat If only Linux had better game support I'd never install Windows again.

Sorry to hear of your troubles, just out of interest did you get a major update about 3 days after you upgraded? I upgraded with zero issues from win7 and all major titles work fine. G did you do a fresh install or did you install it over your W7 copy...?
Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.

I moved to Windows 10 a few weeks ago with no problems other than COD would not open at all. I just had the vanilla Steam COD installed as I've been waiting for TF Version 5 before starting to fly again. Yesterday on a whim I decided to installed the TF patches, and COD started up with no problem. COD seems to work just fine, but I haven't setup my controllers, and just used my keyboard to fly a quick mission.
