Nothing ever changes on the BoS Forum, the most hostile forum to newcomers I've ever seen.

New member's first post: World of IL2

New member's second post: Post was locked

If you're new to the BoS Forum you had better study it closely before posting. Don't dare come in talking about whatever is on your mind when you first buy the game.

"Fans are allowed to 'civilly' defend the product?" Other than JAWS, where was the civility you mention, Jason?

I think the mods over there must be precogs, like those in Minority Report, able to predict future crime and lock threads before the crime actually happens.

Yes....it could have been handled much better for sure. I mean....am I suppose to do a search on everything I post, before I post it....Ask the question, get an answer. I mean, it is a valid question from a guy just getting into BOS. Labeling him a troll, is about as prejudiced as you can get with his 2 posts, and what a turn off for new customers on the forum....Geesh...

And what if he was a troll....so what. Answer the question and see where it might go...but don't have all the answers before hand...don't predict...someones intentions based on what...a crystal ball approach.

If they were so good at predicting the future, how come they didn't know there would be such outcry at their dubious design decisions to screw over SP players after claiming in writing that they would give them a great experience?

I call shenanigans and declare that they can NOT, in fact, predict the future worth a damn.

This is probably asking a lot from moderators. It's a tough job so I'm not trying to put it all on them, but if you close a thread that is obviously able to be answered through other posts/developer responses, then why not post a link to it and have the OP refer to that?

I'm tired of seeing posts like the one we're talking about too... but alienating new members for the sake of a search or the animosity displayed due to the subject is poor form and not good PR for an already difficult genre.

They (1CGS) cannot get out of their own way.

The good news for us is, they have to be and live with themselves forever, whereas we can just walk away from them!

"For I know the plans that I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11

Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. Matthew 5:11

Indeed we call blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of the perseverance of Job, and you have seen the purpose of the Lord, because “the Lord is compassionate and merciful. James 5:11

Yep and that new guy still has a total of let's see, 2 posts.
Looks like the core group did a good job of running off yet another new player who dared to ask a question that sounded like any critique of their beloved sim.

I do hope that core group is enough to keep the sim alive and well going forward after the release of BOM.

The more I see over there, the more I am glad I am no longer a paying customer of 1CGS, or 777 any longer for that matter. Which is sad as I liked ROF, but I no longer have any desire to support that group beyond what I already have.

Well, their house, their rules, ya' know.

As somebody said recently, folks shouldn't rely upon a single source for information.

Maybe somebody should PM the poor guy, and let him know about alternative sites/forums...

I agree with the sentiment of "Their House, Their Rules" but it really irks me that one of the heads of the development company so willingly shut down the OP while backslapping the naysayers.

These last few years have shown me that he's a petulant, petty person and it's near impossible to want to back him on any situation never mind purchase any new project.

The thread you guys are referring to was only temporarily locked until we could remove the personal attacks which the thread instantly transformed into. It's was re-opened days ago.

Check your pants. They're on fire. Maybe secret Soviet documents say they're not, but I assure you they are ablaze.

BBBBBBBBUUUUUUUUUUHHHAAAHHHHAAAHHHAAAHHHAAAHHHAAAHHHAAAHHHAAA!!!!!! winner explode

Edit: It still looks locked to me, but maybe they could move it to "Suggestions" and reopen it like they do all the other threads they don't want seen. Not sure what the difference is, but I am sure there is a Liberal PC provision in the Gulag Handbook that allows for this. Welcome to the closely guarded world of the IL2 Sturmovik BOS Forums =TM=Huntspeno775. salute

Maybe he should consider changing his IGN to Ned Ryerson
