Things were a bit smaller scale in those days. There couldn’t have been more than a thousand there, maybe less. Seem to remember us agreeing that Maiden were better than Priest. Saw Black Sabbath (with Dio) at the same venue around the same time.

British Steel is my favorite Priest album. I'm very envious of you.

I am going through Godsmack's catalogue. I already like some of the stuff I have heard over the years. I am going album by album. My workout playlist needs some new blood.

It's still quite amazing to me just how much Foreigner's style changed from the late 70's to the mid 80's. They changed about as radically as Chicago did.

Yeah, lots of 70's Rock (and R&B) bands didn't transition well into the 80's, whereas some original 80's artists were great.
I still have my wife's cassette of Chicago's famed original Greatest Hits (was in her car when we first met) which reminds of the Pensacola surf (or was it Gulf Shores?...old man memory fading somewhat), some moderate drinking on a sandy summer sunset, and wondering how lucky I was going to get that evening (not lucky enough).
Due to our meager upbringing, we were never into exchanging expensive gifts, but always a small thing here and there. Which is why I'm hanging out in the late-70's after a little gift she brought home from the grocery store that she thought I'd like (and she was right)...
And I plan to show my appreciation this evening...
It's easy to become overwhelmed with great music from the 1970's, just so much of it in a concentrated time.

Great post Mark and that model Smokey and the Bandit Firebird looks great!
I also have that volume I greatest hits of Chicago but on CD, not tape. That's the one with the distinctive cover of the band members on the scaffold trying to paint the side of a building but instead are just freaking out.
