I suppose I've been on a bit of a Jane's kick latley...it took a bit of a struggle but I got USAF working pretty well on my rig that's in my sig. I have two installs going right now...one that is Super pro 9.4 that's a little buggy and one that is stock with some enhancements that seems to be running flawlessly.
Here's a few pics from a mix of both installs from Vietnam.
Flying the A-6 in SP 9.4 Filght of the Intruder mission
Hitting the power station
Getting close to Sam city
Four Sam's arcing my way (i didn't make it)
Shots from an airbase attack mission (stock)

Those Jane's sims really stand the the of time. I still have my copies of USAF, Longbow 2, F-15, and F/A-18. Although I don't fly them, I can't part with them for nostalgic reasons.
Great pics, btw.

WOW.. I got it going on my Win7x64 machine but it doesn't look nearly as good! Didn't load the Vietnam map, though, just working through training sorties at Nellis. Not happy with the flight performance. Aircraft seem to fly like bricks. I think I installed a stock version and the SuperPro version with similar results.
I'm sure I am missing some tweaks, but it reminded me why I never put much time into this sim when I decided to discover it, already long past its heyday once an updated NVIDIA driver magically made it work again on XP.

I'm at work right now but I will try and snap a couple tonight. I wouldn't expect much though...the outside shots look pretty decent because of the forced anti-aliasing, it doesn't do much for the 2d cockpits however.

Just passing by and noticing this thread with great screenshots. I don't want to hijack it but I thought I'd add my two cents... There's actually a High quality mod by Tackleberry that enhances considerably the terrain textures, the clouds, and the range of view. You need to install it on top of the compatibility patch created by the same Tackleberry.
Here are some random screen captures (resolution : 1920X1200, just right-click and 'view image' to have a clear look at them)
Flying over Nevada :
F-16 nearing Baghdad City on a strike mission :
Some F-15E join the party :
Here's also a video I've made showing the mod in action. Nothing fancy, it's pretty basic. The link to the mod is provided in the video description : it's my Dropbox public folder. The files aren't going anywhere, so help yourself !
Jane's USAF is still a great sim to fly !
There you have it! I'm out, sorry for the interjection.
Enjoy,
Andromedius.

Andromedius...I don't think either of the files in the YouTube description are the HQ mod. One is the W7 fix...the other one is just a sound mod since it only has .wav files in it.
I have looked around and can't find the HQ terrain mod anywhere...the links are dead. Any chance you can upload the HQ mod to your dropbox? Would really like to try this out.
Thanks!

Well, well, what do you know? I've just checked my Dropbox folder and found that for no apparent reason the file didn't get uploaded right. The file size should have been around 227 megs and should be named JUTPHQM.7z instead of JUSM.7z. It's definitely not the right one...
Any ideals on how to get better resolutions in USAF with an AMD card? If I hit the preferences tab in game it freezes the game. Now if I don't mess with the the preference tab in game USAF run's fine but is butt ugly Already tried the USAF configure exe in the main folder, it recognized my GPU card but nothing else.

A couple of things to try:
Download the file at this link and put it in your USAF folder and overwrite when prompted
Second, launch the USAF config and do not select your AMD card...just leave it on Primary display driver and hit the test button.
Give that a try. The great thing about USAF is that it supports any resolution reported by Windows without any hacks. I'm able to select 1920x1080 from the pulldown.

It my be worth giving what I mentioned above a try speedbump.
This patch is from January of this year so it has some new fixes in it.
Let me know if this works.

Well got USAF working at 1920x1080, even got my X52 HOTAS working through the players configuration file except I don't know how to assign any of the buttons without getting into the Preference Screen. Anybody have any ideal what can be changed in this configuration file?
P.S. Big thanks to Andromedius for the JUTPHQM.7z file. Tried many times to get USAF to run in the past with no joy but this file did the trick

Thanks Force10 much better now then my clumsy workaround USAF is looking great now that I can get into the Preference screen (and I can program my X-52 too) Joystick seems a little skittish especially on the runway, think playing with the Joystick Setting application would help?
