Hi Guys.

Over the years we have slowly lost members of this community, and there only a handful of us left working on projects.

Most of the people who have drifted off, were all very skilled in certain areas of the game, which now we have no knowledge of, and can only revisit, and read old posts to find out things.

I know lots were tempted away, by the shiny new SIM's, or had problems getting the game to work, on new OS setups, but nearly all of those problems are behind us.

Tony continues to fix problems, almost single handed, and make new tools for the game.

So, come on and keep the Old Girl going!

I can model a bit, produce textures, I love tweaking databases, work for a national Airforce military flight simulator...
And can fly straight and level in CAVOK just like drinking a tall glass of red wine. (?)

Tell me where to go from here! biggrin

A lot of us are just getting older and aren't able to per sue our sim as we did years ago.I can't mod and always respect the work of Tony and the other great modders.I've had to stop flying on line due to health reasons but always respect the M'8 I've made here. What we need is some young pups to pick up the torch and breath life into our girl. But still loving it when I fly.

Yes rwason, exactly why we need to get this place going again, with us, and Newbies, or EAW and all our work will be forgotten.

I started a Facebook page for ex members of the Mid-Hants Railway, which from 73 to 86 I worked on almost full time, and we have now over a hundred of the "old boys" [60+], who made the place what it is today. But time has caused memory loss, and all the hard work, rebuilding the line has been forgotten, by the younger generation. All they do is play trains!

As we approach the 20 year mark, EAW needs to take a step forward, to be remembered as the number one of all the flight sims, but we have shed loads of unfinished campaigns, not least of which Ade's WWI, which has laid dormant for over 2 years, and Moggy's Iraq, which is still going forward slowly, but needs loads of new things building for it.

I know RL is a major problem, and our combined ages will frighten us all, but we need to get things moving, ready for our 20th Birthday!

WOW !!!didn't realize EAW was that old..Messed with the newer sims but they don't have the blend of beauty and complexity level I prefer.I don't want flying to be mind breaking..I've given copies of 1.40 to two of my grand sons and they in turn passed it on to their friends and all enjoy it.as an added bonus they are reading my copy of Jane's fighter aircraft of WW2.At least I got them learnig
My only other sim is CFS2 Hopefully the next generation of pilots will pick up the torch.

I feel your pain. I witnessed the same thing happen to the SDOE modding community over the years. I myself had to bow out due to lack of time, and finding myself alone in the modding community. frown

Hi ArgonV.

With the lack of responses to posts, leaves you wondering how many people, if any, are still playing the game.

Tony, has spent a lot of time, with others making sure the game runs on modern platforms, so there is no real reason why anyone is not playing EAW, only ignorance of all the current patches.

The changes in drivers, back in the mid 2000's killed off a lot of people, who only got 7217 errors, but that issue was fixed 5+ years ago, and the game has been tested on Win10, and runs!

So what's the problem guys? Has everyone sold their souls to the Dark Side??

Never to the dark side. lightsabers
We had the same thing happen way back when the 453rd and JG51 were the only squads battling. After a few campaigns our pilots fell of the radar. Spitty is still around as is sydbod but the others just stopped flying.
I fly with Jelly, Shogun and Lolo when I can catch them online, but being on the other side of the world to me the time differences make it difficult.

Take heart, John.

Look at this post, over 250 views in four days, or the SPAW floatplane post with close to a thousand views.

What we must remember is that there are a lot more offline players than online players. I dare say, there are still a bunch of lurking players that play but to care to contribute for one reason or another.

EAW140 is great offline - check the latest update which I just posted wink
It would be grat to see more people flying online too!

I intend to make a new installation available to save newbies from having to install then run the various patches and updates.

Done smile

Lurkers, lurk. That's what they do. I don't think there's much we can do to get them out of the shadows.

I'm just pleased to see so many views on darn near every post.

Plenty of life left in EAW yet.

Hi John,

the problem is that so many games are made just for Xbox or PS4 that the younger generation have moved away from playing on PC's. We can still keep the game going for those that appreciate it. I have downloaded Jelly's new installer to get the latest version up and running on my old computer here....

cheers,

Pobs

A Millionair who dont care to spend me 30.000 Euro per year, you know one?? winkngrin

I realy would like to get into it again, but all attempts did show me that its to time consuming beside my 3 Kids, my company and last but not least my Wife.

Salute!!

If you think `thats close enough´, go closer, until the plane fill up the windscreen, then a short burst is enough!

I had EAW flying under bridges ages ago smile
It was a roughly designed construction with two pillars and a bridge across so made of three TMods placed with the target editor.
The hit bubble on the bridge allowed you to fly under it.

I will re-visit it again smile
