I have the Steam version of DCS World, as well as the Hawk, A-10C, Huey, Black Shark 2, MI-8 & Flaming Cliffs 3 modules - all purchased through Steam (all on sale in June!)

I'd like to purchase future modules directly from the publisher though, so they get more of the revenue and so I don't have to wait for Steam to get them - is it possible to purchase from ED but integrate it into my Steam version? If yes, are there any drawbacks to doing so? Looking on the purchase options for the C-101 it doesn't mention the Steam version so I don't know if it'll work.

Modules bought an steam work with a standalone install of DCS world, but you can't use modules bought in the ED shop with your steam installation.

Easiest way is to just use the standalone version, then you can profit from ED and steamsales.

I second that. You do lose the steam chat and the integrated video broadcast, but you can use steam keys on the ED version of DCS World.

I could be wrong on this (I use the ED version), but I believe that the later steam versions of DCS World no longer use StarForce or have limited activations. This might be reason enough to stick with Steam...

Yes, you are wrong about that. Steam uses the same DRM as the ED installation.
