EAW140 is the latest version of European Air War. It runs on windows operating systems XP and later, including Windows 10The key to running EAW140 is the "DirSetExe" manager program It allows you to switch between different versions of the eaw.exe, and choose a theatre of operations. There are some advanced settings for people hosting an online game. EAW140 uses the "planeset" system. The ETO140 theatre has four, plus the original default EAW set of planes: Screen shots taken using the installed version showing shots from the various theatres available:http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/4149940#Post4149940More information:There is a single file download, and a lot of information in this thread: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/4149496/EAW140_Single_file_installatio#Post4149496 Jel

Nice work Mr. Jelly. We should leave this up for a month or so, let everyone get a look at it. Follow the links, if you get tempted.

Might have to have a search for my old disc. I loved this game back in the early 2000's but could never get it to work further down the track.

How to launch EAW 1.28e on Q40S 1.4.7 (Debian 8, Trinity Desktop - full desktop version, updated to q40s base 1.9.1 with Wine updated to 1.8 installed also) Linux: note my hardware is old p4 1.7 GHZ, 1 GB RAM, AMD/Ati HD 2400 pro, details here: EAW test results on Linux - it works! http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/4223962/EAW_test_results_on_Linux_-_it#Post4223962 - Browse and lookup and reviews Q4OS at Distrowatch http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=q4osand get Q4OS: http://q4os.org/ Try it with no updates or update it to the version I have which works! - Plug in your joystick to the Q4OS Linux Computer and boot (in this example is a standard Logi-tech Wingman 3d no force-feedback) - Copy a complete working EAW folder including your already set up for your joystick eaw.ini file to somewhere like your documents folder or similar, ex. /home/yourusername/Documents (remember Linux filenames, foldernames are case-sensitive). There is no 'set-up or install' to do other than the joystick test. You will run eaw.exe drirectly with Wine via the built-in Q4OS Trinity Desktop menu tools,(Follow the sceenshots below) - See if your joystick is working. Select Wine control panel: - select Game Controllers and see if your joystick was detected - using Krusader file-manager browse and select the eaw.exe and right-click menu - Select 'open with' , "Wine Windows Prorgam Loader" from that right-click menu. The next thing you should be in EAW! That's it! (screenshot of the menu taken by Pinta image editor (start menu, programs, accesories, graphics, pinta)) For me the game looks and runs exactly as it does on Windows XP.

New test: EAW 1.2c release also works on Q4OS / Debian Linux
conclusion: since EAW1.28c release does not use the later 1024 size menu screens files, it should mean that you DO NOT necessarily need a 1.28c+1024, 1.28d, 1.28e or later .exe to run the game on Linux.
General quirks in tests on Linux:
Q4OS: No sound in Q4OS
Solved: This is by default not turned on for. I turned it on somehow, either by the sound icon on the taskbar lower right, fiddling with the Kmix mixer settings. Or start menu, settings, control panel, sound and multimedia, sound system, check 'enable sound'
Not solved: Getting the error from Wine EAW: 'keylist.str not found'
- if the error occurs before the game menu appears It will stop EAW from loading and ctd (crash to desktop). - if it occurs after you are in the EAW game menu then it won't ctd, at least under Q4OS, but you'll see the error box after you exit the game back to Linux. Just close that. Not solved yet but it may be related to joystick / keyboard settings.
Not solved; The single mission targets selection screen garbled, half-works. Same with the campaign briefing screen. This is the classic 'ATI garbled briefing screen' anomaly, same as it occurs on Windows with some ATI or ther cards. It is caused by EAW itself, not a Linux issue so I have no fix for it.
Not solved: No horizon fog EAW issue encountered by some ATI or other graphics cards. Not a Linux issue. No fix planned.

Hi Tulaig. Welcome to the community. Here are the latest file sets. https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=82D5533B34C75A54!9457&authkey=!AM4iD4Um8_HANmQ&ithint=folder%2cexe 1.40 is still WIP, but the exe's work under most OS's, and run best in Glide. You will need to download a copy of NGlide from here: http://www.zeus-software.com/downloads/nglideYou also may need the Windower program, but try the game and see how you get on.

Hi Tulaig. A very good question, my friend. I'm not sure either! I don't update very often, as I spend my time building things that players destroy. You'll have to wait for Jelly to resurface. He's on other duties this weekend, but I'd bet he'll drop by before breakfast.
