That is looking very good. And it better be, considering the many hours I'll spend in it.

yep

I love the pics. I have actually flown in the F-18 in Cold Lake and worked in the Sim there for 5 years.

I just wish this wasn't so far off.

a realistic time frame would be last quarter of 2017 - a year and a half from now, for a beta release, and that only if the much delayed release of DCSW2 takes place in 2016.

That sounds about accurate, of course you also have to figure in the F-14 , which of course we probably won't see till late 2016 which could affect this as well.

The F-14 should have a minimal effect on the F-18. F-14 is being developed by Leatherneck, not ED.

I do (unforunately) agree with Tom's assessment. I was hoping that development was further along than they were showing but some of the comments in the past couple streams, both the one with Devil Dog Gamer and the official Wags stream, have led me to believe that they are still very early in the development of the F-18.

I don't see why people are even expecting it. It's not pessimistic to point out the fact they've displayed no further progress on the Hornet than on the other A-10 suites, the F-16, Hind, etc. that they all claimed and showed cockpit pics of back when the A-10C was brand new. The only difference with the Hornet is that they still claim it's being developed...

Are these "in game" screens or in some rendering program. I only ask because of the clouds that appear to be in the background. It is nice to be getting gradually more in depth info semi regularly though. I can remember the excitement when it was being hinted at, and then finally announced. Then all of a sudden it seemed to fall off the map. I personally am glad to see it still is being brought up and shown off, even if it is just a few switches on textures.

That is true. Even though it may not be much, this level of interaction is leaps and bounds ahead of past practices.

having burned almost all their bridges, antagonized their supporters and alienated many that could help, they have now to work really hard to get their message across, nothing surprising in that.

Yes it's a forum and everyone is free to express their opinion but IMO it's time to move forward. I've had my disagreements with ED in the past, left the tester team because of them and was banned for a few months (Not the reason I left) but You eventually have to move on.

At least they are answering questions almost weekly again and the live stream is way more than we use to get and I like a lot more than just screenshots.

Don't agree, I predict beta release first quarter 2016.

I will spend thousands of hours in this.

That's insanely optimistic. They've literally speaking displayed no more progress on the Hornet than on the F-16 and Mi-24 from about half a dozen years ago. Do you expect them in Q1 2016 as well?

If they are perceptive and on the ball, they will make this top priority after DCSW2 releases.

The rest of the JUNK can wait.
