I am looking for opinions and suggestions and any input is much appreciated. I am getting a new PC and with it I need a new HOTAS setup (joystick, throttle and pedals). The G940 I own currently has a throttle that has rotaries and buttons that do not function properly. I know many others have experienced this but I am not the type who would know how to/or would want to go in and try and fix it.

In the past I have owned a Saitek X45 and a CH Pro Throttle and Flightstick Pro. I do not want to go back to the CH setup... it worked but I did not enjoy it. So I believe that leaves me with the:
1) Thrustmaster Warthog or 2) Saitek X55 Rhino

I would be proud to own the Thrustmaster but with what I am paying for the new PC and monitor that just seems like TOO much money. And that does not even get me the pedals.

I would not have a problem owning the X55 and the price is more reasonable but everywhere I look it seems like a split between those who get a working one and those that get a non-working one. Yikes, the odds do not seem good. So what to do? Opinions appreciated. Also which pedals would you get for the Thurstmaster, and which for the X55?

I'm a very satisfied owner of a TM WH HOTAS that has seen constant use over the past 4.5 years. I've paired it with Saitek Pro Flight rudders which have served its purpose very well. I fly mostly Falcon BMS and Elite: Dangerous.

You can use any rudder pedal with both HOTAS.

The COTS rudder pedal options are the ("dinosaur") CH and three Saitek models, all with same base/electronics but different foot rest in plastic or metal, different ergonomics and price. All these models use conventional potentiometers.

By pre-order you have the "high end" options, MFG Crosswind, and Slaw F-16. Composite material or metal, ball bearings, contact less sensors. See topics there about.

In between the two price ranges are the VKB T-Rudder, high quality material - metal/bearings, contact less sensor like the "high end" ones but this is rudder only pedal, no "toe brakes".

Both Sokol1 and ICE have very valid points. I believe you are on the cusp of buying something soon. Here are some suggestions.
I have owned and extensively use the Saitek since the X45. My favorite is the X-52 Pro. I like the software on these sticks. Both old and new. Yes, I am using an X-55 Rhino. Its not terrible but some of the buttons/hats have issues. I think it needs to be seriously revamped by Saitek before they start loosing customers. But loosing customers to what? The CH Sticks never do it for me with that movement. This leaves us with the heavyweight contender. Enter the Warthog. Not perfect out the box but with a little tweaking and some black magic it can be a good stick. Used mine for about a year and a half. I still plan to return to it. Love the software too. I removed the big spring and moved the other four spring on top after replacing them with some bicycle springs.... Yes, exhausting.
If you want simple, get an X52Pro or X-55 and be done with it. Saitek pro flight combat rudder pedals are my favorite. I am writing a piece here on the Slaw Device pedals. So if you want high end pedals stick around for my write up.

Good Luck and have fun. Stay away from shady deals that will have you spending money twice.
