A b17 flew over my house so I jumped in my car and headed for our local airport, about 7 miles away.

I spotted it and parked where I hoped it would fly over me

Sure enough

He's heading for the airport several miles out

So I give chase I have a chance to get this beauty coming in for a landing

Unfortunately I am a few seconds late

Nice Bisher, thanks for sharing. As crusty said, I bet she sounded sweet also. I can't imagine the sound of 250 or 500 or 1,000 of those B17s in the air at one time. It must have encouraged the Allies on the ground and struck desperate fear in the hearts of the Axis on the ground during the bombing.

popcorn Great pictures bisher! Thanks for sharing. My memory of seeing my first B-17 Flying Fortress flying was when I was mowing my great grandpa's yard in the late 90s one afternoon. One of those special memories because of my love of my great grandfather whom we all miss to this day and my love of aviation and that Great Generation.

Last year I was walking my dog and heard an extremely loud aircraft fly over my house.

It was a B-17. I googled it when I got home, and found that I could ride it for a sum of money.

I paid the money, and it was an awesome ride!

Thanks guys, it was a blast chasing this aircraft down. I had a cheap zoom lense and had to shoot through a chain link fence for the final few shots.

lol APocalyse31 if you look closely at some of the pictures you can see someone sitting in the nose section of the aircraft. I assume this was one luck guy who paid for a thrill smile

That is cool.

Of course you know that 70 years ago there was something else associated with BMW that was trying to chase aircraft like that down. biggrin

Thanks SilverStang, those last pics were difficult as I was shooting through a wired fence and shooting at a 90 degree angle to it

I agree the last few pics show the detail very well
