I was TDY in Bosnia in early 2001 (under two different Presidents). Led an escort of a CIMIC convoy from Tuzla to Zvornik along mountain roads. I have a very vivid memory of looking to the mountainside on the other side of the valley and seeing it COVERED in gravestones.

Not surprising at all. Russia also vehemently denied committing the mass executions at Katyn until they finally admitted responsibility in the 1990's.

So watching vice last week they had a segment on cold war 2.0 where a Russian journalist blamed the slow steady decline of Russian relations on us bombing Belgrade to end the fighting in Yugoslavia by pummeling the serbs into submission. So we end the genocide in former Yugoslavia but put ourselves on the path to cold war reboot...again it's damned if we do nothing....damned if we do something.

Can we just find a Russian and make a friend, nobody wants another cold war....can someone get the Russians free press already.....we wouldn't be dealing with this if they did.

This is probably going a little PWEC but Russia hasn't changed much more than their name in a long, long time. One side needs to drastically change for there to be peace and I'll be damned if it's us.

When it comes to personal freedoms and the ability to air grievances against the government, Russia isn't much different at all from China.
