Oh, didn't know ISI was backing this. Interesting.

I had started to follow this at the very start but had recently lost touch with devlopment, I must say I am really impressed with the latest screens, its already come a long way.

Having committed ( heavily ) to Star Citizen, but still awaiting any meaningful gameplay and having bought Elite, but not having clicked with it I would be tempted, I dont suppose the ship movement has the feel of I-War by any chance?

I don't think so, it's less "newtonian-like game physics" and more actual literal DCS style physics.

Ummm, well aren't Newtonian Physics actually the realistic way to simulate zero g space flight? If they used DCS style physics that would mean simulating travel in an atmosphere and having lift drag thrust and weight all be factors?

After reading the synopsis about this...I'm interested. I'm an offline single player kinda guy so this would appeal to me. I'm pretty much sold on the $60 level for purchase...the only thing that's keeping me from hitting the buy now button is what kind of DRM it has. I pretty much despise any type of DRM scheme that requires you to be online for offline single player game.

I'm fine with some sort of 1st time online authentication...but the ability to be offline after that.

Anyone know how this works?

Asus Z87 Sabertooth motherboard
Windows 7 64 bit Home edition
Intel I5 4670K @ 4.4 ghz
16 gig 1866mhz Corsair Vengence Pro memory
EVGA GTX 970 Superclocked 4gb Video Card
Intel 510 series 120gb SSD (boot drive)
Samsung 840 1TB SSD
Onboard Realtek sound

Same question for me Force10. I would hope he uses the system that RF2 has, which is a one-off activation. The current pre-access seems to be entirely free to download.

By DCS style I mean actual physics as they occur in real life (or close). I-war and other space sims that are "Newtonian" are usually still gamey but not full on star wars ww2 in space.

Ah, I see why you mean, so it will be more like Orbiter for simulating space travel as opposed to other space style "sims". Thanks.

What I like is the system interaction. Each switch/button does something, or will do, something on the finished product.,
A lot more involved starting the ship up besides pressing "E"

If they develop it according to ISI Work Ethic and DRM Ethics, then that will be the one to get for me... especially if it includes proper offline SP.

It's funny, I'm almost a daily visitor to the ISI Forums and never noticed there's a space sim literally next door.

There's also this video from Matt Wagner...ahem I mean TheWinterOwl, where he speaks briefly about newtonian physics in Rogue System.

I actually prefer the way the ship looked way back in pre-pre-alpha when he was showing concept videos.
