Please don't. I hate that name, it sounds belittling for a good warplane. I always want to ask when it will grow to a full-sized Martle.

I was thinking I'm more excited about the Wild cat.

I don't really know why either, both are awesome planes in their own right.

Just something about the tubby little wild cat that seems fun.

P-40F/F4F-4 vs Me-109K and Fw-190D9... Where are we going with this? Don't get me wrong, I will be first in line if it is as good as the 109 and 190. I just worried about opponents...

I will say this about the P-40 in every sim I've ever flown it in--looks great, let down to use in combat. smile

I always imagined it being a great fighter when I was a kid and had a model of it. Then from the first sim I flew that had it (AOTP maybe?) till the most recent (Il-2 46 I guess) it's always been a let down. I guess historically it just wasn't nearly as great as my childhood imagination said it should be. biggrin

I'm not sure if I'll get it. On the one hand I do think it's a pretty nice plane, and a AVG livery would make it very attractive. On the other hand, I'm just not too sure I'm happy about the insane amount of prop planes and trainers that VEAO got going.

VEAO some info about the P-40F develop

Haha you guys love it

To clarify the suspense...
I'm home tomorrow morning early (01.30) and I'll be talking to the team tomorrow night to finalise the release date.
I'll then talk to TFC/ED this week to ensure it doesn't conflict with any other module release date and we'll agree a launch.
Then we'll put it live on our site for pre-sale. It's normally on ED site about a month or two prior to release as pre-sale.
Steam is always about two weeks after release.

As I said on Matt's stream chat yesterday (for anyone that missed it) we have three TFC Pilots that fly their P-40 checking out ours the week of Legends (next week). The Stig's cousin (our EFM programmer) is at Legends from Friday next week and will be talking to the pilots about their feedback.
In fact all of the VEAO P-40 team will be at Legends except one who had to cancel last minute which is a shame (we'll miss you Storm).
Nick Grey (head of TFC for DCS) normally flies our aircraft in-sim as well and gives feedback and actually Stephen Grey also did last year.
When the team gets back home from Duxford those tweaks will be made but we have a polished product ready for Legends so it's just tweaking after that.

We'll then get it to the VEAO and ED testers for final bug hunting and feedback and then it's good for ED final sign off (yes they do vet it to set standards).

So they are the last milestones to meet for P-40 (and all projects actually).

So when we say Soon TM, we mean it

Yes Q2 ends tomorrow but we want to get pilot feedback on the EFM prior to release and Legends is the best time to do that as Nick and his pilots are there.

So, I can't give a definitive release date for the reasons mentioned above.

Cheers,
Chris.

Great, definite buy as soon as there's a proper environment for it - shouldn't take too many years. Hopefully less than 8 years at least (one should stay optimist for good things like this).

Well, on the plus side you could sub NTTR for North Africa I guess.

I will be flying the IL2 BOS/ BOM p-40E in sept. No reason to fool with a veao p-40 until dcs has a real ww2 environment. I would have put the p-40 on the back burner and went full steam ahead on the typhoon if I was veao, but what can you do...this is dcs...nothing ever makes sense in dcs.

Good point, didn't think of that. Sure, flipping switches is fun, but not more fun than even the most stale WW2 setting. Definitely not getting this for DCS until it's on a <$5US sale then.

With a "appropriated" mix of P-40F, Bf 109K-4, Fw 190 D-9, P-51D and maybe a Sabre or Mig 15 as "Me-262" and the AI B-29 MOD. smile

P-40F vs 109K or D9 explode Hopeless

VEAO might as well put Japanese markings on the Wildcat... I thinks that's more of a match up to the P-40.
