I am wanting to do some minor work on a P-40B skin but don't have the software to rotate text to a custom angle. I have recently downloaded Gimp and it seems to work fine but I can't save as a .bmp file. When I export the Gimp default file extension to the .bmp file extension, the file size gets changed somehow and IL2 won't recognize the skin. I'm comfortable using MSPaint and while the skins I modify appear in the game, the program leaves a lot to be desired, being able to rotate objects being one of them.

Long story/question short, is there anyone here that knows how I can get a skin modified using Gimp to be recognized by IL2?

I've done minor tweaks with Paint.net. It seems to work just fine. Its free and open source and many people have developed a lot of tools and effects. The skins are in .bmp format. GIMP is a raster graphics. You need a program that does bitmaps like Paint.net
