Ok. I have just downloaded the latest patch. All I can say is if this is a patch, the next upgrade will leave me speechless! I have only flown a few QC's and have not gone into any detail but a sunset flight and the tracers are worth the price of admission. As Hellshade has said, much smother also. Just wanted to thank OBD for the finest flight sim around, not to mention all the fine folks on this forum. Got to go fly Gents!

Hahaha, Hellshade are you getting a commission? Just kidding, the removal of the wall and the new sun effects are awesome and don't forget the devs also massaged the fences of death. I agree with you, this is an awesome upgrade.

Routine patrol and suddenly noticed a pair of albs well below us, so we dove to engage.

FIX THE DONATE BUTTON?

PS - The patch is so awesome I just tried to donate some cash but the Donate button didn't work. Fix that baby. You guys deserve some extra beer money for this. Seriously. The Closest Target option alone is worth it, not to mention all the other goodies. I can actually fly campaign missions starting from take off now and for whatever reason, compression is so smooth that the entire experience is fantastic. That might change in 1918, but then you put in that amazing Very Light air density option so even then it might be okay.

I haven't really noticed an increase in fps.

But it is quite smoother on time compression. I get the same 2 fps when on 16x as before but it is smoother and I wonder if the in-game counter reads anything below 2 as 2.

The new Archie burst are great.

I am using the new Very Light area activity and have not noticed much change, but I am flying in the middle of 1917.

I did try the default shaders to see if I could squeak a couple of fps out of it and the fps dropped at least 10. Went back to the minimal 1 or 0 settings for DX9 and the fps went back up to what they were {45 in normal flying, high 20s or better in a dogfight}.

And Hellshade! You already donate. You put up those wonderful videos on youtube. I wonder how many people have seen your videos and bought the game?

OBD, what have you done?!!! That´s a really cool upgrade, I think the best one since introducing WOFF 2.0.

What I would like to add is that the new flak explosions do not only look great, for the first time they do stay at their point in the sky regardless where one is looking, and while changing views, you may detect them allready fading now! In the former versions they only appeared when exploding while you where looking there at the right time, didn´t they? That is new to me and it is a huge improvement, much helping keeping situational awareness, thank you. I would also say, that the new version is running smoother now, haven´t seen cloud popping yet...

I like it very much, devs, great, great, great!

PS.: I have to add, that I have to switch off aircraft shadows for the time, which is a pitty, otherwise the Direct 9 shaders won´t work. Maybe this is something which can be fixed? I know I have to upgrade my graphics card anyhow, cloud shadows was something I had to disable allready to use the new shaders. With these options unchecked, the horizon line is still visible...

Thank you guys,

Sorry Hellshade there were two donate buttons on the front page, the lower one worked - anyway just the one there now and seems to work. The one on the buy now page was working.

Lowdrag thanks. AMD/ATI user I guess? AnKor may be able to improve how the shaders work with AMD/ATI cards to allow those options to work - but no promises of course.

yes Duke the old shaders where running along side the new sometimes, now they are disabled if AnKor's new DX shaders are running so in theory should be faster/smoother for some.

Thank you Polovski, yes of course, AMD user. Would be great if AnKor could do this- but: Just read over in the help section in the thread regarding direct 9 shaders... Switched off sunglare now, et voilá- the aircraft shadows are selectable again w/o crashes. Sunglare OFF, cloud shadows OFF, and (almost) all the benefits of 2.06 are there!

I am happy!!! WOFF to fly!

I put some beer money in the til OBD. This seriously is a patch so good it feels like a payware add-on. Can't wait for Balance of Power.

If there is anyone who doesn't have the WOFF V2 Expansion yet, now is the perfect time to get it and then download 2.06. It is most highly recommended.

Hmmmm.....

The new shaders work well and the view is stunning...but, any one else notice that the temp. of your GPU go up, a lot.
True my rig is old but my GTX460 went from 62° to 72°, even with sunglare turned off. I know the 460 can run up to 80°+ on some games but I never had this before, not even in ROF.

wondering if the 2.05 d3d8 would work in the 2.06 version??

If the 460 can run at 80 degrees, and it's 72 then you are OK I'd say. I haven't noticed anything odd here.

Also from time to time here I have to clean the fans and air vents on my GPU and PC box - my PC fan runs faster when it's getting clogged. Maybe worth a go could be co-incidence...

[UPDATE: In the meantime it looks like AnKor has found a way to implemented sun glare to to work around on such AMD/ATI drivers/card, and we hope to release this as a mini hotfix/patch 2.07 soon.

You will need v2.06 installed to use it.]

well I'll be D.....
After adjusting my monitor so as to do without SFX I thought I'd try this.... After months of playing around with Nvidia inspector etc I thought I'd let the WOFF do the 8xMSAA and not the card.....my jaw dropped to the floor.

Allowing the Sim to do the AA might of even reduced the load and temp of the GPU (64°)

Good and what about FPS? I wanna try that as well, about all the fuss toward Nvidia Inspector,in the end I did not find it very usefull.
