Haven't seen anything since the may 6 update. I assume the team is hard at work throwing virtual wrenches into virtual TF-30s.

We're currently in a bit of a crunch on unannounced products, thus the planned F-14 site launch was terribly delayed. F-14 progress is strong other than this, however.
We're dropping the monthly updates, yes, and moving to fairly big but more frequent updates. This will be the best way for us to move forward due to the amount of content produced for our multiple projects and we also avoid missing update dates when polishing is deemed necessary.

Hmm, bit of a crunch, I like the sound of that. That usually means "announce now, release tomorrow".

Wouldn't the announced products be due first, and thus get 'crunching' priority. Also, crunching for what? I didn't think ED was doing anything at E3 I'm not complaining, just a bit confused.

If I remember correctly, and I could be completely wrong, I believe it was said in one of their announcements that the two unannounced projects are planned for release before the F-14. I am curious to what the crunching is for, however. It could be nothing, of course, but that is exciting. As always, thanks Cobra for coming on here and answering questions.

The crunch is to meet internal development milestones/sprints, nothing else at the moment. Yes indeed -- the F-14 is the least advanced of our three near-term modules.
It will not be long between announcement <--> release, that is correct.

I will say from a marketing standpoint that is baffling. Star Wars Episode VIII comes out May 2017!! Here are some clips, interviews, posters, and behind the scenes footage. Oh, um, The Force Awakens is out in 6 months, but we're really not talking about that yet. The Jedi Master

Here are some clips, interviews, posters, and behind the scenes footage. Oh, um, Guardians of the Galaxy is out in 6 months, but we're really not talking about that yet. The F-14 has a colossal reputation, it is one of the most popular and recognizable aircraft of the last fifty years. If I were LN I'd want to spend as much time as possible to get that fanbase fired up, and spreading the word that my product exists. They might not expect the other aircraft have such a substantial fan base, and might think that such a prolonged advertisement campaign is not worth it. Or Cobra could be trolling again

near_blind also brings up another possibility: the announcement of the F-14 may get people who were on the fence about the near term aircraft to purchase them in order to support development of the F-14.

The average naval aviator, despite the sometimes swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy, and caring. These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

Besides, have you seen what happens on this forum if you mention you are making a <COUGH> WW2 <COUGH> era plane? It doesn't get warm and fuzzy that's for sure...

IDK, most of the WW2 stuff seems to be met with more apathy, than venom (relative to the more modern aircraft projects afoot). That said, I'll post the obligatory: DCS: Half Life 3 CONFIRMED!

DCS: Half Life 3 CONFIRMED!
awesome news !!! IDK, most of the WW2 stuff seems to be met with more apathy, than venom (relative to the more modern aircraft projects afoot).
I am sure that the apathy is only temporary, as soon as the developer of DCSW releases the Spitfire, P-47D, Me262, the AI-only B-17 and the Normandy map we will see a resurgence of interest, specially after DCSW 2 comes out of beta.

I'll just reiterate I can't recall another instance of a company announcing a product slated to come out after an unannounced one, with the possible exception of a DLC for a previous product. Now there are different windows, some don't announce until a month or two prior to release, some announce years in advance...but usually a given company sticks with a particular model of either long or short term. ED, for example, is long term. They announce everything long before it is due for release...everything except the release date itself that is. The Jedi Master
