I can't hardly turn the nuts because the tires are put on at the tire store and they use air compressed power tools and tighten them so tight even putting my entire 198 lbs into it by stepping down on the tire wrench can barely get them to move.

Rotated tires on my 2006 Honda Odyssey by myself. In under a half hour. And fully
re-torqued all the alloy rims to 98.ft-lb. Was time and my only slow down was tire wear.
Had to jack up the front more to fit the bigger worn rear tires up front. Front wheel
drive.

Now I have to learn my old ways with my 2003 Jaguar S-type 4.2 V8 rear drive.

I’m gunna call your bluff on that half hour tire rotation JimK.

Anyway, I'd definitely want to re-torque those nuts after that one minute job. smile

I rotated my tires with one jack in a parking lot last fall in about an hour and it was a damn good workout.

Well being an old school mechanic those mechanics do not know how to properly use that 4-way lug wrench..

Yes they torque down the lugs at all shops with air compressed tools thing is most people do not know this is a BIG NO-NO. Reason being you need to torque down the lugs with a tourqe wrench to a specific ft. .lbs reason why is that is You ever get a flat tire it is very hard to get off with a lug wrench as you've seen the other reason is it can crack an aluminum rim..

I would look up how many ft lbs your lugs needs and Specifically ask they torque them down with a Torque wrench NOT an Impact Wrench..

Half an hour is no problem, I use about that to change all four tires on my car.

I use a wrench with an extendable handle to get more leverage. Cheap fix for those seemingly welded-on bolts after a winter of driving through snow and salt slush.

In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

Same here, I always re=torque after a new tire change at the garage to, they always over torque them.
Knowing this makes it easier when rotation time comes. I used 2 scissor jacks at the same time lifting
one side while rotating. And my heavy 3/4" socket set with extra long handle makes it a breeze breaking
them loose. Broken studs are no fun.

Pro racing would be much more interesting if they had to do pit stop sthat way.

I NEVER get a flat unless it's after dark in February with a howling NE gale and snowing. So my time is a bit slower than that.

Considering I have nothing but jumper cables and a spare in the trunk for tools, on the street it'll take as long as it takes me to wait for a tow truck or friend with a toolbox biggrin

Have not had a flat in so long I can`t remember the last time. Have woken up
and go and start car to only find it flat. Couple times for that.

My tractor on the other hand. When they re-shingled and re-sided our buildings
they did a real crappy job cleaning up afterwards. Was getting a flat on the
tractor about every time I mowed. Went and bought my own magnet sweeper and picked
up about 5 gallon bucket of nails and staples and screws. Have not had a flat since
Need new tires for the tractor though. So many plugs in it and still loosing air.
Must pump them up before every mow job.

I can change a main tire on an A-10C in about 10 minutes, including jacking, torquing, breaking loose, retorquing, and safety wiring the bolts. That was great and all...but the real time came with doing the paperwork, computer work for records, supply requests, etc. Actual work - 10 minutes, time for the job - about an hour...lol.

It takes me a while. Break torque on the lug nuts. Jack the car up just high enough for the wheel to clear the ground and then slip a piece of cardboard underneath. Thread the disc protector through the wheel spokes and struggle to get the thing firmly seated on the disc. Remove the lug nuts and thread on the extensions for three of the lugs. Remove the wheel by carefully sliding it away from the hub on the cardboard. Reverse for reinstall.

Carbon Ceramic brakes can be a pain in the patooie when removing/reinstalling wheels but OMG do they stop driving

Speaking of tire rotation, I think I might've done mine a bit wrong. I just did the "all vehicles" diagonal switch as depicted in the second example here ...

I hope it's ok since there's also the front wheel drive method and I have a front wheel drive car.

The alignment still feels bang on though.

Prolly be okay LB!

I do the 4WD rotation on my Jeep TJ with a twist...I integrate my full sized spare into the mix. ProComp 33x12.5 R15 Extreme MT tires are expensive...and wear pretty quickly. wink

I roll all four winter tires into the garage in spring and put four summer tires on. Vice versa in the autumn. That's my rotation.
