I have Windows 10 Pro Preview on a 256GB SSD (which Windows reports as 236GB of course). With nothing else installed I have 130GB free, so that tells you how much space is used between files and swap files and such. Laptop has 8GB for reference. Oh, wait. I just double-checked and as I've updated the builds a few times, there are two directories taking 14.1 and 10.8GB, respectively, for the Recovery Image and the previous Windows (now .old) folder. I'm sure I could delete those if needed. So instead of 130GB free I could have 155GB or so free.
So let's say roughly 100GB for Win 10 with nothing extra installed. YMMV, especially once the final Home build is released.

and the latest release TrackIR 5 and CH Products programs no longer work Moses are you using Windows 10 preview? If there is an issue I'll chase it up with CH as obviously this will be a problem with the free upgrade being offered many users will jump before checking to see if it works. Rev it worked before the latest update, hadnt had any issues at all until the one from Sunday.

Just toggling off the Win10 notification icon isn't enough, it keeps turning itself back on. Yeah, I'm done with Windows treating me like an idiot, I'll stick with Windows 2000/XP for production and for everything else I'm going to try a different route... Wait, what's that? Is that a UPS truck backing down my driveway? "What you got for me there, my man?" <No kidding, as I'm reading this thread my tablet arrives.> Now I EXPECT this thing to be a little bit retarded!

Just reserved mine for my 8.1 laptop.
Probably hold off on my 7 PC gaming rig until I see how it works.

If you have Win8 or 8.1 I don't see the hesitation since Win10 looks the same.
Different video and audio drivers and some older PC games may not like Win 10. Either way, I'll wait for a while first and see what the reviews are like.

Now you've got me curious. I'll do a folder check. Ah...a slight overlook. I had two Acronis backups in the Temp folder over 34GB. So not counting that folder, the Windows.old and Recovery Image folders, it takes 18.3GB. Well, 18, 100, same thing... The Jedi Master

Thanks for getting back to me, I've passed this information on to CH to follow up and check for compatibility, sadly though as we've seen from previous iterations of Windows you can test, test, test and test again and then they release the final version and everything flies out the window (no pun intended) like Vista where a number of manufacturers were caught on the hop.

I liked it alot no real issues until this one popped up but if you dont like change then yeah stick with what you have. It's not so much about not liking change but if I'm not going to get any increased benefit with my pc games then I'm not going to go through the hassle of upgrading my OS. Probably hold off on my 7 PC gaming rig until I see how it works. Its weird, all my OEM laptops got the popups in the tray, my gaming rigs and studio.rig, nada. I plan to just update my TP to Relesse build. Since it resides on its own drive.

I got the popup on a retail version of Win 7 and it does say that you can download the upgrade when it becomes available, and then install it at your convenience, so you could download it just to have and then take all the time you need to decide, I think.

Different video and audio drivers and some older PC games may not like Win 10. Either way, I'll wait for a while first and see what the reviews are like. I bought a Windows 8.1 gaming rig recently, and everything worked well except for the Cougar MFDs, and they didn't like the new USB power management, so I had to go into the registry and turn that off. Because of potential driver and hardware issues like that, I'm not going to rush to upgrade the OS on that system. I'll try it on a couple of Windows 8.1 tablets, and maybe an 8.1 laptop. Not sure if I'll do it with any of my Windows 7 PCs, since they're all older and would probably be replaced before the end of Win7 support anyway. I saw this article and thought some here might find it helpful: http://www.zdnet.com/article/windows-10-youve-got-questions-ive-got-answers/

I have the prompt on my win 7 machine, but I am concerned for peripheral compatibility at this point and also would like some feedback over performance, reliability, usability and integration.
When some good reviews come out for it, I may push the button..... not like I will have a choice in the future.

I plan to just update my TP to Relesse build. Since it resides on its own drive. Same here with the pop up. Got it on my laptop with 8.1 but nothing on my PC with 7. I always screen my W7 updates, to make sure they won't slide something 8-ish at me that will break the things that W7 runs and 8 doesn't. I didn't like the sound of kb3035583, so I didn't let it load. Thus, I am free of the popups. In fact, the last time it reappeared, begging like a puppy to be let in, I did a net search and found lots of other folx were as suspicious, and some had drifted through the binary for plaintext hints of its intent, and had found the "upgrade to win10" strings, so I already knew what it was about. This was at the beginning of May.
