Could someone give me a hand with installing this? I realize some things may not be allowed to show up here but maybe someone could send me a PM? I read the instructions on TAW and if I understand correctly, the game must be first installed to programs x86 in my case since I'm on Windows 7. I have my original dos version on CD but I don't know how to install it from the old disk onto my pc. Also the instructions seem to stop there and only continues for folks running the virtual Windows XP method. Is Reloaded all installed through a self-installing executable? Also, is the 3dfx the best version? I assume its the best visually. Thanks.

Coot,
Be sure you're not comparing apples and oranges. EF2000 Reloaded is totally separate from TAW. It is not a mod, but a DosBox wrapper for EF2000. You need an DOS install of EF2000 (any of the 3 major versions will work), and then point Reloaded to your existing EF2000 folder.

For TAW support, please keep everybody happy and post your questions on CombatSim. Not to be short with you, but just to keep things kosher here.

No worries HomeFries. I alluded to the TAW wiki simply for its EF2000 64bit Windows install directions and nothing else. I didn't understand the EF2000 install process there. I own EF2000 dos version. I wasn't sure how to get it off my disk onto a modern pc. I found a great youtube video that helped me understand how to transfer it. I also received some help here.

The one question I still have though that I didn't see on CombatACE thread or that I'm misunderstanding is do I just run the Reloaded exe once my EF2000 copy is present on my PC? I guess I'm thinking there was another step in there but maybe not.

The Reloaded topics are hosted primarily at CombatSim, not CombatACE. No worries.

Also, if you could link the video I would appreciate it. thumbsup

hi,

i know that it's late but big thanks for the wonderfull work ef2000 reloaded 3dfx windows 10. its just incredible.

Very good job.

it took me a lot of work for adjust retails but all work.

Since 4-5 years i replay with ef2000 reloaded. The map edit and revive add its perfect.

I remap with target for my HOTAS thrustmaster T16000m and TWCS inspire script to cougar. All that works perfectly.

Just some question :
- I have never see the communication option REQUESET EMRGENCY LANDING. bug ?
- Sometimes, the overall rating after mission sucess in campaign give 0%. Neverless the mission should be a success. Above all with ferry mission and strick. Other bug ? Its no probleme thank to edit campaign smile just recalculate overall rating and modify smile
- the night vision seems do not work with vfx1 ?

Thanks.

Wow, just seen this. I didn't think there were any posts about sims here these days...

I don't have answers to those questions, but you are likely right in them being bugs. I'll bear them in mind if we do a new version.

The only issue I have with 3dfx version of reloaded is that after each mission when it goes back to the menu it's a complete black screen and I can't do a thing. I'm running the game at 1280x800 at fullscreen. I udnerstand that the menu resolution and the ingame resolution is different, but is there a workaround this? I would like to keep playing in fullscreen instead of windowed mode, but this total blackness after each mission end is very annoying.

There were issues with Dosbox/3dfx full screen mode when we made EF2000 Reloaded (over 10 years ago) so the advice was to set the window size to the screen resolution to achieve a similar effect.
If you're not using TrackIR, then it may be better to use Dosbox-X instead of the modified Dosbox included with Reloaded as the 3dfx emulation has got better over the years.

Thanks - this actually gave me an idea and managed to solve it otherwise -> I'm playing the game in 1280 x 800 in order to preserve 4:3 ratio. Instead of adjusting the game I adjusted the desktop resolution to match (1280 x 800) prior launching the game and it works - everything is fullscreen, proper aspect ratio and no black screens in the menus!!

Now on to figuring out how to get my HOTAS mapped / recognized and I'm all set. Does vjoy solution work with Reloaded? Creating a single virtual joy out of a stick out of two (Thrustmaster T16000M & Separate thrust controller)?

Well, your videos are great! Nice to see Damson get some competition. smile

I don't have a HOTAS, but there's some good information in the Reloaded manual.

I just started playing this as well.

The issue I am having is that the all of the joysticks I've tried with the game (Sidewinder 2, Xbox Series, 8 Bit Do Pro) fire the weapons when I press various buttons. It seem that buttons 1, 2, 5 and 8 all fire the selected weapon. I thought it might have been a dosbox mapper problem, but I created a custom mapper file with all buttons not assigned but it will still fire the weapons when I press these buttons. I realized that Reloaded uses a mapper file in the users directory of the C: drive, and that is the mapper file I replaced. I even confirmed it loaded the alternate mapping file in the DosBOX debug window that pops up when you run Reloaded from the launcher

Is there something going on with the "custom" DosBOX that Reloaded uses that overrides the normal DosBox mapper file? I've been trying to debug this for hours and it is driving me crazy.

Another great video! I wonder why the bottom line of the raster seems to contain random data in some shots. Something to look at if there's ever a new version...

Not that I know of.
