http://time.com/3903014/microsoft-windows-10-release-date/With Windows 10, we start delivering on our vision of more personal computing, defined by trust in how we protect and respect your personal information, mobility of the experience across your devices, and natural interactions with your Windows devices, including speech, touch, ink, and holograms. We designed Windows 10 to run our broadest device family ever, including Windows PCs, Windows tablets, Windows phones, Windows for the Internet of Things, Microsoft Surface Hub, Xbox One and Microsoft HoloLensall working together I will wait for reviews, and even maybe a couple months for the first wave of patches and hotfixes. I hope it is good. It is time for me for a new build, and this is the current excuse I have to hold off for the moment.

I liked it alot no real issues until this one popped up but if you dont like change then yeah stick with what you have. It's not so much about not liking change but if I'm not going to get any increased benefit with my pc games then I'm not going to go through the hassle of upgrading my OS.

Coot: You need to uninstall an Update. Here are instrucutions. http://www.myce.com/news/how-to-uninstal...-and-8-1-75681/Jayhawk: Can't find it, but I am sure I read that it is "Home for Home, Pro for Pro" upgrade. Now, those running Win7 32Bit may be in trouble. I don't think you can go from Win32 to Win64. That would probably be a clean install, and end up with a HOME version.

From the Windows 10 Wiki... During its first year of availability, upgrade licenses for Windows 10 will be available at no charge to users of retail editions of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1
Home Basic and Home Premium versions of 7 and standard Windows 8.1 will upgrade to Windows 10 Home.
Professional and Ultimate versions of Windows 7, and Windows 8.1 Pro, will upgrade to Windows 10 Pro

Since even illegal copies are illegible for the upgrade, I doubt they will make a distinction between retail and OEM. EDIT: My bad, this has since been ammended: http://www.cnet.com/news/windows-10-pirated-upgrades-will-still-be-considered-pirated/Good for them. I had for a time though MS has lost all traces of business sense. The only requirement according to the FAQs: The only requirements are that a) your device is compatible, and b) youre running genuine Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Windows 8.1 (Update).
Windows 10 is designed to run on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 PCs. That means your device is likely compatible and will run Windows 10.*

ATM I have zero interest in updating to Windows 10.
I am still very happy with my Win 7 64 bit, best OS I've used so far.

Your level of interest is irrelevant.
The options are thus: Upgrade within the next 12 months and pay nothing. Wait until 7's EOL and you have to upgrade or risk getting caught out when a vulnerability is discovered that MS won't patch anymore and then pay $100+ to do so.
There's little reason to upgrade this summer, no. However, by spring next year it is likely going to be a case of "now or never" because it will cost you to wait longer.

and the latest release TrackIR 5 and CH Products programs no longer work Moses are you using Windows 10 preview? If there is an issue I'll chase it up with CH as obviously this will be a problem with the free upgrade being offered many users will jump before checking to see if it works.

I noticed that it said RETAIL editions so if you got Win 8.1 pre-installed on a PC (OEM) then I guess you are out of luck. No, I have 8.1 pre-installed on this pc I bought after X-mas. I now have the little white windows icon staring at me in the taskbar. Decisions... decisions... ah, it's just to get in the queue to reserve your upgrade download. Might as well decide later.
