"Tomorrowland" would have flopped regardless of who the lead star was.

He wasn't really hyped in the trailers, either. It was evident he was in the film, but not that he had a large role. For good or ill, this wasn't sold as a Clooney film.

In a world without TV I do not see films advertised over here. I'm not sure how it is in the states but over here film advertising just doesn't seem to really be about any more. When I went to the cinema to see the latest Avengers film a month or so back me and the mrs where surprised that we had only heard of one of the films trailers before the main feature. Jurassic World has done the rounds on social media etc so we both knew that was coming but all the others even though some looked good we had no idea about, including this Tomorrowland film. I do believe the movie industry is having for some strange reason super trouble adapting to the on demand, computer, always connected world. In theory it should be easier than ever to advertise upcoming films but this doesn't seem the case in reality?

If you visit the internet sites that the studios think film goers visit, you will see them.

Comingsoon.net, Flixster, IMDB...all these sites have tons of ads for upcoming films.

For a 190 million dollar budgeted film it does seem like it had little hype and advertising.

My favorite Clooney movie is Fantastic Mr. Fox. Laugh all you want, but you'll like it too.

He was great in Oh Brother Where Art Thou but aside from that he's pretty much a classic Hollywood goober.

With that Lindelof hack writing, it wasn't a surprise.

I really liked The Monuments Men. The Ocean's trilogy was decent, too, good enough for a watch.

Of course, to date the only Clooney film I own on DVD is From Dusk Till Dawn. smile

I think the entertainment media in general is still working under the false pretense that most people make their movie viewing decisions based on which actors are in it.

Does well with a good script (Oh Brother, Three Kings, Men who Stare at Goats, Descendants, Intolerable Cruelty (OK CZJ carried that one), Oceans 11, Out of Sight) but can't save a bad one.

Tomorrowland is the worst film with the most muddled script I have seen with my kids since...forever.

I loved the Oceans films, but I love a good heist film. Men who stare at Goats and Monuments men I also liked very much.

That is one of my all time favorite movies as well lol. The humor couldnt be dryer if it was filmed in a desert.

As for tomorrowland... it's a kid's movie. You are not going to get anyone who likes clooney into a theater seat of a kids movie unless they were already going to go because they have kids. I hope they didnt pay extra to give the role to Clooney because it was never going to be a draw.

I can't stand him when he has dialogue scenes in his movies because of the way his head moves when he speaks.

No, he is not a star.

I don't run to the movies because I see Clooney in the cast listing.

I saw the first Ocean's film and I didn't even bother to see the other two sequels.

Who? She can't act J-Lo? Or Catherine Keener?
