The game detects my vid card wrong and claims it only has 128mb of ram. I can play the game fine but this error about the vid ram places a huge message that hides the options on the first page and won't go away. Anyone know a fix?

I have a similar problem and I'll bet you have an Nvidia gpu? The game doe sseem to have an issue with Nvidia's gpu architecture and it seems not to affect ATI cards. I have had 2 ATI radeons on my desktop and neve rhad that issue but I have had it with all Nvidia gpus on various laptops. AS you say the game still plays fine and you can set your video options in the config file.I must say that I don't have your particular problem with the first page of the menu being covered by the warning message. What res are you using in game? What's your screen native res? You may need the wide screen fix.

Hi, yes, I have a GTX 780. I have res set to 1920x1080 which is native res of monitor and I already have that widescreen fix installed. The first option page is for realism options. Maybe there is an ini file I can access to change those options?

Just a heads up that this issue is now present with certain AMD cards too. I have a new rig with a AMD Radeon R9 270 2 MB card (as standard issue) and I also get that same partial screen blocking message about not enough GPU memory. Funny thing is when I click the "systems tab" button in the SFK42 GUI it list all my system specs correctly except when it gets to the Video Card Memory listing, it's showing 4294965248 MB of video memory, I don't even think IBM's Big Blue has that much memory hahaha Me thinks SFK42 has a wee problem detecting any GPU's that have more then 1 MB of video memory. I have had both 1 MB AMD and 1 MB Nvidia cards in my old rig and never got this error message, but when I did replaced the 1 MB AMD card with a 2 MB Nvidia card I started getting that error message. Now with a 2 MB AMD card and I'm getting this same error message again is making me believe what brand card you have makes no difference and probably never did as long as you stayed at or under the 1 MB threshold (don't know how SLI or Crossfire would effect things). If someone could find and some how disable the auto detect scan that SFK42 does every time the game is fired up this message would probably go away for everyone. I highly doubt anyone is still using a PC that Graviteam listed in their SFK42 game specs as optimum.
Cheers

I have a few other games that detect low vid memory instead of the correct 3GB and they all run fine but the difference with those games is they don't stick a huge error message screen on top of the options screen with no way to exit it.

Totally understand your frustration. Mine is how the text messages in game get cut off at the top of my WS monitor, I've learned to live with the "memory warning" screen since you can adjust all your in game settings by just clicking the icons at the bottom of the GUI screen.

It's important to remember that SFK42 was released in 2008 and no "official" patches were ever done for it. It's a long story but short version is Lighthouse (English publisher) went bankrupt so Graviteam never got paid for SFK42 from these guys, Discus (RU publisher) never paid Graviteam period and holds the rights to SFK42 for a long time. Graviteam did one "unofficial" patch for SFK42 and that was it, everything SFK42 is today was done by the SFK42 community. While SFK42 is very open and just about anything can be modded something's are just hard code and will probably never be fixed like the memory warning and how the in game messages are cut off on some WS monitors.
Cheers

Speaking of mods I tried to download some mods for Steel Fury couple of days back but all the links I found are dead. Do you know a mirror?

The file link that you requested is not valid.

I would use this, personally. It probably contains everything you're trying to get and then some.

You can become a member for free. All you need to do is register. Takes 15 minutes of your time max. You're allowed to upload up to 15 GBs of files a month.

Or you could go here: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/tawqydkci66dd/STA
This was set up with STA permission to help people with STA 4Shared download problems (like myself). While not as current as STA 4Shared, this Mediafire depository does get updated, new files will probably be added soon.

Hi john84,
No the link is to mods for the full version of the game. The demo is just that... a demo. Considering the SFK42 demo was probably released in 2006~2007 it's problematic if it would run on any newer PC anyway. But I do remember running the demo when it was released on a mid range PC back then and it was okay but suffered from really low FPS at times (usually when you were in heavily wooded areas). Trying to get a honest feel for SFK42 from the demo would probably leave you not wanting to buy SFK42. That would be a shame since the released version of SFK42 is IMHO still the best WW2 tank sim to date. With all the mods available now it is WW2 armored nirvana.
Cheers
