All these blasts from the past made me try and remember what my first sim was... I'm not really sure, but I think I'm going to count this as being it smile

I'm impressed Mudcat and agree this should count as a flight simulation smile

Oh, what was the Helicopter one? Kinda like Choplifter, but came out before. And you just shot things, not rescued people. smile

Is it bad that we are hoping EDGE is at least as good as a VHS tape from 1987 :P

For those who haven't seen the first game before, it is from the Action Max "game system" which was basically just a light gun and a little red light with a suction cup you put on the screen. The games were on VHS, had to use your own as it wasn't a VHS player just hooked up to your own.

Only had 5 games, I didn't own it but one of the others was Blue Thunder smile

That's mine, which also counts as my first tank and car sim I guess :P
Note that the planes stall though, which wasn't bad as an inclusion at the time. Years after that I kept being frustrated by games which pictured planes not losing speed and lift while going upwards in improbably ways.

And the year after they released that one too:

I have never found it but my first flight sim was similar to B-17 Bomber. The graphics were nowhere near as sophisticated and the whole game was on a 5 1/4 floppy disk.

That low level footage in Action Max is something else. Wonder who was responsible for performing that flight.

Simulator patent

Ignore the listed patent seekers. This was designed by old scratch himself!
