Thanks for the heads up. Jackfrag's video of it pretty much sold me, looks to be a very solid game. I might go in with $70

I am very tempted getting the 100,- buck pledge for the pre-Alpha access, any word when this might start!

I am also thinking about doing the $100 pledge as it grants access to the Pre-Alpha (which is what everyone is playing right now). The Kickstarter goes live on the 26th of May. If anyone is interested we could all pitch in an just get the "Company Clan Pack" for $325. That's is 5 founder level game keys and would be the cheapest way to split. Roughly $65 per person. Lemme know if you guys want to group up and save some coin!

That's a big jump from $30 to $70.

What does "early access at $5 discounted price" mean? You have to pay over the $30 amount if you want the game before final release, but if you wait that $30 is all you pay? How much is it after that $5 discount?

The devs have stated on the official forums that the "retail" game will be $35. So if you go with the $30 you get the game at $5 discount and will be able to play it early via Steams "Early Access" program. However, this is not the official "Alpha or Beta" access, this is right before its release on Steam.

Ok, so it was just worded obliquely.

Definitely interested, but they are pricing themselves out of the "early adopters" market, IMO.

I feel like the "Squad Leader" pack should top out at $50. $70 for 1 Alpha key, and lets be honest here, that's what people are really buying into, is a little steep (again, IMO).

Early access is double retail? lolwut.

I dunno guys, being who they are and playing what they have created in the past tells my gut this game will be something special. These are the same dudes behind the highly acclaimed Project Reality mod for BF2 after all so they do have a great wealth of experience. Also the fact that the game at this state (Pre-Alpha) already looks and plays like it does is a testament to their skill. Now granted I have not played it so these are just my own observations, but reading/watching/listening the reactions of some very popular simmers/gamers on Youtube and the forums all signs point that Squad will be well worth your money in the end.

Fully agree. This is a small studio and their biggest achievement is a modification. This is where a kickstarter or early access process makes sense. Project Reality was a game like no other, what they achieved in that was amazing. Just the thought of them having complete freedom in 'their own engine' (UE4) makes me really excited. Also what I've seen so far looks great.

I am really impressed with what they have been able to do with UE4 so far. Like you said they are a small dev (and they are part time devs no less not a full fledged studio) and their passion and commitment to their product thus far has been top notch. More so than many larger well known developers.

Game won't be available until the kickstarter is over they said.

That said, I just pledged $100 - These guys truly deserve it.

I thought the $100 and up pledges could play as of now?

Nope. Devs won't actually get the money until the Kickstarter is over, so they can't hand out anything at this stage until the KS is funded, over, money is transferred and people are locked in. So the early-alpha access starts when the KS has ended. Then a few months until alpha, then another few months until steam early access etc.

Well, no money will be taken from your account until the KS is over, so if you pledge now or the day before it ends is the same. Outside the fact that you help the KS reach its stretch goals, especially hope we reach the Russian forces.

I am surprised to see so little chatter about SQUAD on these forums. Russian Forces successfully funded, and it was a pretty awesome KS campaign! Congrats to Offworld and look forward to playing this one.
