It's interesting that that error also occurs exactly the same way in english. Maybe not so much, given that English could be seen as severely bastardized German. Sure, both languages have drifted away from each other over the last 800 years or so, and the multitude of invasions and the influence of the French language certainly added to the continuous mutation process of both. But neither is English particularly hard to learn for Germans, nor would it the other way. The many similarities certainly help. It's just that they aren't identical (let alone pronunciation and spelling) which throws students occasionally off.

I played through Wolfenstein: New World Order twice and I don't recall ever running into that conversation. That's because this is from the expansion "The Old Blood" which was recently released.
Why men throw their lives away attacking an armed Witcher... I'll never know. Something wrong with my face?

Ah oops. It's odd since I have seen nothing about this expansion on Steam.

German is easy. Just put "ger" and "en" at the end of English words and slur your words a bit. Sleep is schlaf, so if you want to sleep you say Ich gehen gerschlaffen (I'm going sleeping). There are exceptions. Zug is train. Platz is place. Parkplatz is where one leaves their car. But for some reason I reduced a nice policeman to giggles with Wo ist das Zugplatz.Btw, I was raised by Americans who had immigrated from Germany and I don't speak anything but really bad pidgen German. My parents believed that if they were going to be Americans they'd rather butcher English than speak German around the house. Worst, they were both Schwabian and so what I picked up isn't exactly proper German.

I took 2 years of German in high school and 3 years in college and loved every minute of it. Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to use it much after I graduated so I've lost most of my conversational skills.
What threw me off the most when I first started learning German is the non-restrictive sentence structure. English is very strict with subject, verb, predicate being in the right order.

Did french all through Jr.High and High School and then did 4 years at university. I could carry a decent conversation once upon a time ...but now I struggle for vocabulary

Btw, I'm up to the final boss battle in The Old Blood and have to say it's worth the twenty bucks.
I did the stealth thing most of the time, which is very satisfying. I also like that for a lot of the game one doesn't have a huge arsenal...in fact,t he first bit one runs around with nothing but a couple bits of pipe.
My favorite character dialog is the resistance guy telling you to avoid killing Nazi's.
"What's that you said? Kill every Nazi I can find?" "No! I said..." "You're breaking up," (fake static noises), "Talk to you later!"

Certainly it would take less syllables, which alone could save time.
