As the title says.

I miss Falcon 4.0: Allied Force. I'd install it right now if it weren't for the problems it has on Win7.
If I used the T&L renderer the graphics would corrupt in flight after a while.
Switching to the non T&L works, but then the T&L computations fall on the CPU, and the overall performance is crippled. More so if you enhance the terrain with the -g commandline switch.
I used to play with -g5. Terrain was a postcard. Now it's taboo.

And no matter what you do, the knee map is a fuzzy mess (this one an nvidia exclusive, far as I can tell).

Has anybody tried to use the Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit to see if AF can made it work without graphics corruption?

I have heard several say it runs fine in XP compatibility mode. Only one way to find out...

On Win7, GTX460, 332.21 driver and still takes the timeless sim up for whirls... But everything looks fine here.

Haven't fired it up for a few years, but on my rig at the time which was an i7/680GTX/win7 64 bit it was faultless, very smooth and detailed. Didn't go into any real detail though as I was heavily into WW2 sims at the time.

Whoa.
What about the knee map being a mess of psychedelic diagonal lines at all times?

And what about using the "Direct3D HAL T&L" renderer and seeing weird triangles dancing all over the screen after a variable amount of time (this appears to be related to the rendering speed: the more the fps the sooner it happens).

WinXP compatibility mode doesn't fix it for me :-(

First time I noticed the problems it was with a GeForce GTX 770, and the driver version was 320.49
Then the card broke (still in warranty) and couldn't be substituted so I replaced it with a 970.

And now that I use a GeForce GTX 970 the driver is 344.75 but the problems are still there. With this card I can't go back with the drivers or the card isn't recognized.

Would you gentlemen tell me which driver version you play with today?

Might need to use older drivers for F4AF. Heard of old software non compatible with newer drivers on several occasions. Might need to contact Nvidia customer support to get the right driver unless you can find it on a internet search.

No can do.
Earliest drivers that recognize my 970 are the 344.xx family version. Can't say I'm happy.

Try stock video card if you haven't removed it from your PC, or buy a used PC at a pawn shop that runs XP with an older vid. card. My old PC with XP and AMD Radeon (I think) card runs it fine. My newer rig with Vista & Nvidia card has issues. Haven't played AF since I installed BMS a couple of years ago, so I'm a little rusty on AF issues. After that I'm out of suggestions.

Lot of sense in what you say, but I can't do any.

My quiver isn't empty yet. I'm cooking up something.
If it works I'll come back and post about it.

Good luck. I hope you get it sorted. Best thing about AF was having the ability to control the ground war. I miss that functionality in BMS, but everything else in BMS is better from a realism standpoint.
