Some are damn near impossible because the pictures are too small to read anything. Yup. I'm sure that was done intentionally of course to make it difficult.

I got 10, which isn't too bad if you consider even with a modern map I probably would have never gotten the Orkney Islands and most likely not gotten the British Isle.

15/15 But I have the advantage of an education in medieval history, philology, and a bit of Latin. Not a talent I get to use too often!

Missed three. Would've been four if Mudcat hadn't mentioned the Orkney Islands. No Latin knowledge at all, but it's not difficult to extrapolate what some of those words refer to.
SALUTE TO ALL!

13. The tight zoom of the red and blue ink blackletter made that one just about impossible, but I should have gone with the only bit of language I recognized, rather than guessing on style.
The island (with lots of mountains, tan shading along the coast, and lots of little islands around it), I have no excuse for, I was overthinking it, I should have just gone with the shape it appeared to be (and was), despite not recognizing any of the place names, and especially the name of the sea, which I didn't bother to look at, should have made it obvious.
Several of them had the name written right on the map, in one place or another.
