Isn't the ending technically based on a true event?

A Waffen-SS batallion getting slaughtered by a single, immobile Sherman tank? I have my doubts about that.

Even Audie Murphy needed artillery support for such a feat. wink

I tried to watch Fury and I stopped my bluray player after about 45 minutes.

It may be Audie Murphy I'm thinking of, I just recall reading a story about one dude taking on a huge number of enemy soldiers and surviving. At any rate, I wasn't horribly offended by the end, it certainly didn't ruin my enjoyment of the rest of the film.

EDIT: Might I ask why PanzerMeyer?

Because it was overblown, historically inaccurate and full of cliches. Essentially another product from the vapid Hollywood industrial complex made for multiplex consumption.

So you guys are just completely incapable of enjoying a war movie if it has inaccuracies in it?

Within reason. Almost every war film has a least one or two minor inaccuracies but "Fury" was so off the mark it was almost a parody of what actual WWII armored and infantry tactics were actually like.

Oh, I'm surprised to see master and commander on there. Although I suppose there aren't many films about tall ship warfare are there.

What about Black Hawk Down, Full Metal Jacket, Paths of Glory, Apocalypse Now Redux and Saving Private Ryan?

Yes those are great as well but like I mentioned in my previous post, I only listed 10 to start. smile

At least in Hollywood, the number of films made depicting naval warfare during the age of sail is very small indeed. I'm not counting pirate movies of course.

That was like the movie-within-a-movie scene in Inglorious Basterds. Glad I didn't donate more money to Brad's Spitfire.

Well all right.

Aside from Tora Tora Tora and Paths of Glory and a couple others I don't usually like the war movies that commonly get touted around as being great. I prefer a good story to utmost accuracy and it seems like a lot of older war movies are more focused on the events themselves rather than telling an interesting or relatable story.

I watch movies for entertainment, not history lessons. I even enjoyed Red Barron and that was a fable. I am not burdened by the curse of thinking all movies must be perfect and in doing so I can watch anything and find some entertainment value in even films like Red Barron.

Great use of various Team Fortress 2 sound bites and music!
