Looking forward to trying it when it opens up. I didn't know there were no respawns, that's a plus in my book.
You'd probably like Battlestations Pacific. You can play subs, transports, destroyers, cruisers, battleships, carriers, all kinds of planes, drop paratroopers and send landing craft to take islands...great game.

America: F**k Yeah!

American BB's make it into the latest patch (plus some Japanese carriers or something)

Currently the BB line starts with South Carolina, moving through the Wyoming,New York,New Mexico,Colorado,North Carolina,Iowa and finally the Montana.

USS Wyoming (BB-32) The "Chesapeake Raider".

Lots of democracy on this ship...

These ships are brawlers with excellent manoeuvrability so won't suit the player who likes to sit at the back of the map raining shells on all and sundry and never taking a hit.

Some gameplay from The Mighty Jingles who also explains what's new in the latest patch.

Hmmm.

The New Jersey sits in retirement about 5 minutes down the road. Might need to finally jump in here and take that Iowa class for a spin...

I'm not happy about them bigtime nerfing the capabilities of the American CV's in the latest patch.

I'm dying to play this and was really hoping for an invite. Seems done to me. I haven't heard of any major complaints. A release soon, maybe?

I would think that the open beta would be 'imminent' Pooch.Perhaps they are waiting for some feedback from the latest patch. They just sent out surveys to players so fingers crossed.

So much for 'imminent'.

E:D is unplayable atm so decided to blow the dust of WoWs to play with my current favourite ship the Tier VI Cruiser Cleveland.

Can't fault it too much to be honest.Quick-firing main armament, speed and manoeuvrability and with the AA ability it's a carrier's worst enemy. In fact I haven't bothered to do any further research past the Cleveland.Fun ship to play.

Not bad,I'd been after that damn mission for ages (shoot down 8 aircraft in 1 game).Whenever I fired up the Cleveland there were never any enemy carriers on the opposing team.

Damn you Chucky, i have got my head around the lack of Anti Aliasing and have been having some pretty intense battles ! Looks like my Tiger is taking a backseat for a while biggrin

Found my first Carrier, didn't sink him as we capped and game ended, had an awesome tail chase dodging torps from his aircraft

The St Louis is a money making machine, i keep going back to her and the St Carolina BB are where i am having my best games after initially liking the Destroyers. That Louis has some mad punch and can take a good pounding (that's what she said wink )

Down to the bottom again with the old duck.

....ummm....yep biggrin Everything from WTGF carries over nicely so i don't feel a noob at all, fast hit and run ships that need to take minimum hits, get in and get out. Mediums that are a jack of all trades and the big boys that sit back and pot away. Seems a lot more players go for flanking in this game which is a nice change after the severe lack of flankers in WT. The ui needs a bit more hand holding or a basic tutorial i think..i had no idea that i needed to right click and sell a ship so i could free up a slot until i just madly clicked around and stumbled on it. Good fun game and it can get pretty intense, like from 0 to 100 real quick biggrin

btw..this was my very first pvp game after the required amount of bot battles..all that Ground Forces really paid off wink

Yeah, there's quite a bit of clicking to find everything.Watch out for the tips that flash up as the game is loading.Ctr-x locks the guns on a bearing from the ship (handy if you want to look around the screen without the guns tracking your view) and Shift-x for locking guns onto a particular map sector.Don't forget to press again before you fire or you won't hit much. Also, whilst in gun zoom mode, you can press the RMB to temporarily zoom out so you don't lose situational awareness. You may already know all this of course.

Yep all good, did a round of Reddit wow sub while the game was downloading smile What time zone/times are you playing ? Would be nice to hook up with some people for a team effort instead of frantically trying to organise battlegroups via chat while watching one or two BB's peel off seperately and divide their fire thus robbing the team of their hitting power when needed. You can make two really good battlegroups out of every team and just absolutely own the three cap maps easily.

Take the two outer caps initially, one group each, cover them with firepower and then grab the middle after you have ship superiority. Managed to get a team do that once tonight while the other team was split going for three caps and we cruised the victory in. Just need to calm the lone wolf guys who go for victory or death ...which can also be fun though biggrin Great game.
