I actually wouldn't mind living there if I knew for sure I could get an IT job that pays at least the same as what I'm making now.

South Dakota of course! It would actually be a nice change of pace for me. I'm tired of living in an overpopulated area with terrible traffic.

I lived in Rapid City for a little over a year. If you like wind and cold well then this is your place!

Honestly I'd die on Mars before I went back to South Dakota.

Can anyone put forth a valid argument as to why we need separate North and South Dakotas that does not involved the concept of "tradition" or "history"?

It would be a pain in the a$$ to replace all of the current US Flags with 49 star versions.

That's ok, we'll make PR a state to even it out.

In fact, we need to have several more states to stop screwing over our citizens.

Replacing SD with PR would mean replacing a strong red state with a strong blue state. Ain't going to happen!

I cannot believe you used the word "strong" with South Dakota in any manner other than referencing their winters.

Radio show that mentioned this video said there were 200,000 people on the waiting list for Mars.

I can see why SD wants a piece of the action.

Which is astounding to me because

A) It will be a one way trip. No coming back if you change your mind.

B) The trip will naturally be inherently dangerous on many levels.

The problem with asking the kinds of people who signed up for the suicide mission to Mars to move to one's state is that if successful, one winds up with the kind of people who signed up for a suicide mission to Mars moving to one's state.

Um, when they say that South Dakota is "progressive" are they referring to the fact that snow blowers eject to the left of the machine?

I've heard from some friends who have visited SD that the steaks there are absolutely great and cheap. I would definitely take advantage of that.

South Dakota, Will be driving across it once again going on vacation in Wyoming.
Spending a week out in Shell, WY staying a VRBO house with indoor pool on the west
side of the Bighorn Mountians. Then we are heading for the Black Hills for 4 days
at another VRBO home in Custer. I love it out this way. We have been thinking about
moving this way, but like Panzer said, finding the right job out this way could be
tough. Many oilfield layoffs that also creat more layoffs for support jobs.

If you don't go by Wall Drug while visiting South Dakota you're doing it wrong.

At my old job we had a Wall Drug sign on the office wall. Never been there myself though

Lost track of how many times we have stopped at Wall Drug. Must be at least 30 times in 53 years.
Its a good pit stop on the way through. Will be driving from New Ulm,MN to Sundance, WY in on June
14th. 566 miles. Telling the wife, Wall Drug is not a stop this time.
