Quote:
Penn Jillette of Penn & Teller he's the one who talks is talking all about how he lost 105 pounds, going from a waist size 44 to a 34, in just three months. Jillette was motivated to get healthy after his high blood pressure put him in the hospital.

"I was on six very powerful meds to bring the blood pressure down," Jillette told People. "My doctor said I needed to get my weight down, and if I brought it down 30 or 40 lbs. it would be a little easier to control. And then he said something in passing that completely blew my mind, he said, 'If you got down to 230, you probably wouldnt need any of the meds.'"

So he did and what a difference. I'm impressed.

read that yesterday, looks totally different besides those glasses. Wish I could drop 40 like he did, but the hard part is keeping it off. Wish him luck!

You mentioned the key right there Top Gun; keeping it off. Losing weight can't just be a one time thing that you do when you get suddenly inspired but it has to be a lifestyle change.

Just googled P90x. That crap has absolutely nothing to do with healthy weight loss.

Losing a pound a day by starving yourself is not even remotely a healthy way to lose weight, especially at that age. This could easily have killed him.

I dropped from 192lbs - 167lbs from January 1st until now. I'm 5'9" and refused to hit 200lbs. I simply counted calories excercised on a stationary bike. No tricks, gimmicks, etc. Staying at 1500 calories a day in theory should have dropped me 1.5 pounds a week. There is NO WAY loosing 105 pounds in 90 days like he did is remotely safe.

Once I got on board the routine of it - loosing weight wasn't really that difficult. We will see how it lasts in the long term. At the very least it opened my eyes to how many "empty" calories I was consuming in a day in crappy food (soda & taco bell mostly).

I do miss taco bell though neaner

Well, he was under direct supervision of a doctor and had a dietician balancing his meals. Note in the article it talks about what he eats now, not what the medical team overseeing his weight loss had him eat.

Basically he had to lose weight or face an odds on favorite for a stroke....when one is hospitalized for high blood pressure that's no joke. They were probably pumping him full of blood thinners on top of everything else to keep him from busting a hole in his brain.

His nutritionist is probably going to look at that self described current diet and tell him to get a grip and put some protein and a little fat into it.

Good for him, though.

Teller does talk, but his voice is...not showbiz. He speaks when you meet him in person, as I did in Vegas 10 years ago. One sentence and you instantly knew, yeah, if he spoke their dynamic would be ruined.

Vienna, 2nd rock left.
Reading the headline, I thought he picked up Teller and dropped him on the floor...
