Okie - if you can only name one - what is your most favorite artist/band ever?
Mine is the immortal Queen
I have many bands that almost reach the same spot, but Queen has held my captivation since the mid 80s when I got old enough to appreciate them (between the Works and A Kind of Magic).
Difficult. For me it would have to be Tool. Classy band and each album they've done unique in their own way. "Lateralus" is a masterpiece of prog in my opinion.

"Ha! If it gets him on the deck its a start!" MigBuster
"What people like and what critics praise are rarely the same thing. 'Critic' is just another one of those unnecessary, overpaid, parasitic jobs that the human race has churned out so that clever slackers won't have to actually get a real job and possibly soil their hands." Sauron
So many good bands out there... but I also choose Queen.
There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the universe is for it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.
Rush, though they're more "first among equals" with me. They have an album or 2 that do nothing for me, but I still admire their incredible technical proficiency. People say the music has no "feel" to it, but to me the perfection in the mathematics of sound is just as good as "feel."

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as "bad luck.” -Robert Heinlein

The Beatles. Without a doubt.

Hard question, but I am still 20 inside so its Iron Maiden. My favourite song is:
Definitely can't go wrong with Maiden! One thing I notice about them and a lot of other older bands is that they have FUN playing live. So many bands look pissed off the entire time they're on stage.
I'd have an even harder time picking my favorite Maiden song than I did picking my favorite band, but this one would be in the top 3 (with "Alexander the Great" and "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son" filling out the rest.)

I'll put my hand up for Metallica. Metallica was the band that really blew my mind when i first heard Master of Puppets, man. Leading up to them it was all heavy stuff, ACDC, Sabbath, Ozzy, Maiden, Judas Priest etc and these days it's a lot more chillstep than it is metal, but those four lads really put Metal right out there.
Most respected band in the industry. Proof you can stay indie by running your own label (discord records) and do it your way and still be successful. They are basically old D.C punk rockers that grew up and learned to play more than 3 cords like most teenage punk bands. They were doing alternative in 1988 before there was even a genera for that. They were recently featured by Dave Grohl's Sonic Highways on HBO.
