Trying to diagnose a WOFF quirk on my system.

When you get a chance could anyone check their WOFF install and see if at the default setting (not changed by you) if the WOFF.exe and CFS3.exe are checked as "Run this program as an administrator"?

Thanks.

What's the quirk?

I disabled the User Account Control so I don't need to use the "run as administrator"

I always disable the Administrator under User Accounts, but then I also check "run as administrator" in the compatibility tab, just to make sure since WOFF is so picky.

I am relatively new to Win 7 after years of XP.
I THINK I have the UAC shut off but I am not entirely sure.
So PR are both set to "Run as administrator"?
I am just fishing and you are well versed on the issue.

Yes, for picky WOFF, I set both the CFS3.exe and WOFF.exe to run as administrator. After all, it does not hurt anything if it does not need it, but it does help if it does need it, i.e. a win-win situation.

I run Win 7 Pro 64-bit with UAC turned off. I checked both the CFS3 and WOFF exe as you asked and neither are checked for running as administrator. I've encountered no problems with WOFF.

Thanks Cody for the additional info!
Guess that gives me two things to experiment with.

I had trouble getting TrackIr to work until I ran it as an administrator. I have UAC turned off, but run WOFF and CFS3 as an administrator. It can't do any harm. As usual with Micro$oft it's hard to find out what the administrator function actually does. Sometimes I doubt that anyone there actually knows.

Did a WOFF reinstall yesterday and, after a morning flight, forgot to check what it does during a "default" install.
I will check and post for others for future reference.

WOFF.exe doesn't need it usually. Mine hasn't.

Picky CFS3.exe does sometimes, mine is on.
Yeah icky TrackIR also needs it on.

Hehe. Darn computers.
For me on a stock WOFF install both are checked for "Run as Administrator" where TrackIR is not on Default installs.
The CFS3.exe might be so because I imported it from a install.
Anyway all is working fine...knock on wood!
