I am currently using the Saitek X-52. It’s not a bad HOTAS but it does not have all the functions I want. I really like the Thrustmaster Warthog but it seems a little expensive. I have been looking at the X-55 but it has mixed reviews. I trust this forum because you are real people who are not paid to say good things. I would like to know if I should get the X-55 or save up and eventually get the Warthog. I will say I have a tough time spending that much on a HOTAS. Your advice is needed and appreciated.
Thanks,
Rockeye

My observations of switching from X52 to X55 posted a few weeks ago:

Don't let my callsign fool you... I do NOT work for or represent Saitek. You will see that I was not particularly merciful in my discussion.

A couple of reasons why I went with the x55 over the Warthog. First is the throttle quadrant switches. I dont just fly the warthog and prefer the way the x55 does the switches. The x55 is designed as an all around HOTAS where the Hog is really designed for the a-10c module. Yes you can use it for other aircraft and yes it does well, but still does best with the a-10c.
Another reason was that both use plastic internals. I have read problems with both and I did not feel comfortable spending twice as much on a tailor made stick with plastic internals. I am not saying they are the same quality by any means, just that I personally could not justify the warthog. I do wish the x55 had more weight and was made out of metal, but for 200.00 it is a great HOTAS.

Looking at pictures of the inside of the stick it looks like there is room to add lead fishing sinkers or similar to up the weight.

X-52 and X-55 are both designed with screw holes to attach them to your 'pit. I can't imagine not using them for that purpose.
