I don't think that was quite thought threw all the way. And I don't think there is a way to track all the sales with keys and accounts. Certainly not older sales.

Judging by this posts, I can already see that the GT made a huge mistake that made all updates for free.

Not sure why you would think it wouldn't show up on Steam, all their other products have started being offered.

If you bought it from GamersGate you get the DRM free version (which some people prefer) but nowhere in that product description mentions a Steam key so not sure what more you expect from Graviteam.

Well I think what most people are failing to fully wrap their heads around is that SABoW is now totally Graviteams, lock, stock and smoking barrel. UIG grubby mitts are totally off SABoW for good and that probably means much greater possibilities for SABoW. I do tip my hat to Graviteam for the improvements as they could have did nothing with SABoW, just kept the whole reacquisition under wraps and just collected all future sales. I do understand some people are a little miffed about the STEAM keys because they already purchased the Gamergate version, I too have the Gamersgate version. But just a reminder for anyone who thinks Graviteam is somehow being sketchy because the newer version will cost a reinvestment of $29.99 to get it on STEAM.
1). SABoW has been enhanced and content added over the original UIG version, so it's just not a copy of the same copy.
2). For those who bought SABoW when first released roughly paid the same amount for a buggy game that UIG refused to acknowledge had some bugs and refused to fix as long as they had control over it. Remember all the fixes and enhancements came from Graviteam in unofficial patches that they did on their own dime when they had no real obligation to do anything. UIG probably didn't even say thanks.
3). Andrey has stated many times if the funds and interest for SABoW is there more content could follow. Considering what has transpired over the last couple weeks I'm thinking this might finally happen if we don't get to overly critical about a $29.99 reinvestment if you want the STEAM version.
Cheers

Well said Godzilla yep

I don't play SABOW a huge amount. If I did I might consider purchasing it again on Steam as that is my preferred platform, however I'm more than happy with my DRM-free Gamersgate version.

If new content is delivered in the future,I may re-consider that however.

Dunno why everyone gets so excited about Steam. Yes I have some Steam stuff but I will always choose GG first if it's a DRM-free game.
As I understand it the fineprint on Steam sales states that a purchase is effectively a lease purchase.
If Steam decides to discontinue the product 'support' you potentially end up with some DRMed files you can't run cos the Steam Client will reject it.
With the original GT releases I don't have to worry about Steam having a hissy fit or a network outage - I own the game & I can play it whenever.

On topic -
is there a possibility of a patch to update the pre-rerelease SABOW games to any extent?
Or must I consider buying a new copy to get the upgrade?
A partial patch with essential fixes (if any) would do.

Updates are free. Newest Patched version I think was released on GG today. If you bought SABOW in DEC 2011 or later. The patches are on gamersgate on your owned title page. So short answer is go get that thing NOW. F10 in set up phase now has a free roam camera ALA GTOS. FINALLY. My wish is full filled. Makes setting up your supporting forces faster and easier by a long shot.

Oh and my mod does not work with new remastered sabow. POOP. I tried last night and no dice. Need to up date that I guess.

It can't be that bad, is it? I have a few friends that picked it up recently because of the update and steam release. And I just bought it again to have on steam and show my support. If you could get it on the front page of steam I bet you'd get a lot of impulse buys.

Mite just do the same, not a big fan of steam
But if it promotes armoured warfare sims then its worth spending a few bucks,
