About a month and a half ago I escorted a couple of combat photographers around our flightline at AJAB. Never expected to see the pictures they took because they said they were just taking them for historical archives. Some cool load outs that are puttin' the hurt on ISIS...and I'm in the 3rd picture going under the nose to do an End Of Runway/Last Chance inspection. Notice how filthy many thousands of rounds of 30mm make the Hog. A-10s In Kuwait

Cool pics, keep the good work against those ISI's bastards! Keep safe and thank you. I was trying to find a way to put my thoughts, but Trinidade made a great job for me... Keep on riding'em hard.

I was stationed there in 1995 with Hogs and then Vipers. I got some really cool pictures of the HASs that we bombed out. One big hole through each HAS and destruction inside.

Weird thing about all of the HAS's bombed out in the 90s...in February of this year the current EOD team found 12 UXOs from those days!!! One UXO was found 3 f'n feet off of one of the main roads on the perimeter road around the flightline! We were running the perimeter road to keep in shape...
I hate the middle east just because of things like this...20-25 years later and nobody has thought to clean the f'n place up yet. I spent a lot of time doing EOR (End Of Runway) inspections on A-10s heading to battle...last chance inspections. Being bored at times I walked the desert at the end of the runways looking for relics or critters like lizards just for something to do. Had no freaking idea there could STILL be land mines or anti personnel ordinance left laying around.

We were up the road at AAS, if you get there go visit the northern most HAS on the northern edge HAS site. The machinery room still has the signatures and messages on the walls left from the Kuwaiti pilots and airmen rounded up when the Iraqis invaded. They later shot them. All. Mines and UXO were less of a problem where we were sited thanks to the Seabee detachment who cleared the pads.

Good stuff Harry, but while at the Jab we were only allowed to go to AAS for testing (PT or classroom) or short morale trips...since they have an actual BX/PX and some alternate eating experiences than we had at the time...since all we had was a chow hall and a mini-PX that never had anything. That's changed a little now...with a Green Beans coffee, Pizza Hut, Subway, and Taco Hell. The Jab PX/BX started stocking up pretty well right as I was leaving. I did hear from someone who was at the Jab a decade ago mention there might STILL be skeletons in the bombed out HAS doors and tunnels...but after that I never went back inside of one.

Paul, if you get the chance (I never did but some of my buds did), grab a trip to Camp Arifjan (AJ). They have a TGIF...with everything western but the beer...lol.
Better yet, get a trip to the Avenues Mall in Kuwait City...they have EVERYTHING! I think it's the largest mall in the world. Me, being a dumbass who'd just gotten there from Bagram, had a most excellent mushroom and swiss burger from Hardees. It was heaven to me, but there are almost literally every restaurant you can think of in there.
We were allowed one morale trip per month to the city, AJ or AAS.
I did a PT test at AAS and rewarded my passing score by eating at the Arab joint on base and eating a most excellent lamb shawarma (like a gyro). Gave me the chits since I wasn't used to real food by then, but man was it good!
Oh, and hopefully my grass patch is still doing okay. I talked to Selfridge dudes and made sure they knew to take care of it because you were coming in next to care for it....lol.
