Any MiG-15 flyers around here? Just downloaded it yesterday and I have to say this is probably the best virtual aircraft that I've ever seen. Just a gorgeous, gorgeous bird - and such a nice flyer too smile

Now I know some of you may have a wee axe to grind with BST, but this crate is just awesome. And very complete for a beta too. Highly recommended!

PS. SimHQ, how about a dedicated 15bis subforum now that the bird is out?

Indeed, I've had quite fun with her in MP. Having such heavy weapons can make short work of Sabres, though you gotta pull a lot of lead on them.

I only got to spend an hour or so with it last night, but it's a very, very impressive module. Loving it.

I Picked up the Sabre last year and it's a great planes to fly, maybe if they ever put together a Korean war era map (aka) "Mig Alley" I'll see you up there so check your six. salute

Very Impressive first release with an FM that is not too twitchy to enjoy ( which can be the case with the very first betas. ). Satisfying but not too simple to fly either, with a throttle response that seems to take minutes rather than seconds

Sincerely looking forward to the campaign.

OK, day 2, am able to cold start and employ weapons already. The only weird thing was that I suffered a sudden blackout after maybe half an hour in the air! I was in level flight, altitude about 1500m ASL and as far as I can tell oxy on 100% (the breath blinker was going steadily) with the cockpit fully pressurized; but then all of a sudden... BAM! Faded to black. Must've forgotten to turn an odd valve on somewheres I think, or maybe it's a glitch since I was rather low anyway? One has to remember that as complete as this bird looks and feels, it's still a beta.

But all in all, I remain VERY impressed with the quality and level of modelling so far. What a beautiful, beautiful aircraft!

As far as oxygen goes, there's a valve to turn just to the left of your seat. Turn it all the way down. Not sure exactly what it does, but doing so prevents me from suffering blackouts.

All I have seen are 6 starter missions. Including a simple mission to intercept an Hawkeye that even the worst aim in the world could not miss.

Any timeline for when this will be released on Steam? (As I have all this serie on steam, and don't want to mess with the "fixes" for each version)

Thanks.

Is it possible to get the ME map into the missions? It seems a waste to only have it in the ME. Whilst I have printed out the charts and NBD stations, having all the frequencies placed on the ingame map where they are would be helpful.

I don't know if it's because the MiG's in Beta, if it's because the Sabre is still in Beta, or if it might be a case of developer bias playing a role, but I gotta say that it doesn't matter much what happens: It's my experience that no matter if it's high or low, fast or slow, the MiG is better to far superior, even when it really ought not to be. The one exception is speed, the Sabre can in game travel at higher speeds. But rolling scissors, fighting below 2000m, etc. is something that I've had no issue with at all in the MiG. The first day it was released in stable branch was the first day I flew it in MP, and on one server I shot down 8 Sabres without getting hit even once, and for all the bragging I'd like to do, I have to admit I'm not that good.

Some of that may be attributed to the MiG being a somewhat unknown factor to Sabre guys, but still. Whenever I've tried the Sabre in MP, I've had a hard time when my plane's characteristics should place me on top. I know the MiG should have better thrust, but in low altitude turning dogfights I can easily hold my own and catch up, whereas in the Sabre I almost instantly drop to just above stall speed (which btw seems to be a lot higher than for the MiG), and it takes a long time of straight and level flight to get energy back. Even a slight climb seems to neutralize what energy I'd catch.

Hmmm... interesting. So how about re-joining the ED board and airing your concerns there?

PS. And I meant it seriously too, i.e. no attempt at cheekiness from my part here whatsoever. Any devs reading the boards most likely frequent theirs, so you've got more chance of getting heard there instead of here IMO.

Me too! Just wish they made a mudmover variant as well, because I suck as a fighter pilot...

Well sure, but you know, apparently I spread "damaging information" over here, another forum so, perma-ban.

Another thing I've noticed is that the MiG-15 almost certainly is modeled with a G-suit taken into account, which goes a long way towards neutralizing the drawbacks it'd face in a realistic simulation against Sabres.
