The film American Sniper just passed Saving Private Ryan as the highest all time domestic box office (U.S) for a war movie.

The industry is still shocked at how well the film has done. Eastwood hit a grand slam with this one.

At the other end of the spectrum, "Blackhat" and "Mortdecai" are the biggest bombs so far for 2015.

I agree, but for a 134 minute movie it went fast.
the only nit I have to pick is the baby doll he was holding. Couldn't they have gone to toy r us and gotten a doll that was more life like.

I'm still amazed how Cooper looked a lot like Kyle for the movie.

I wish I could find the KQRS92 Morning Show interview with Chris Kyle. One of the funniest things I have ever heard, was Chris Kyle playing "Call of Duty" and being trash talked and owned by a 12 year old. lol

I think it was about 2 days before Kyle was killed. Terri Traen even asked him about the gun range he took vets to.

No complaints - very good film overall.

Haven't been to a movie theater in decades.
Might just brave catching the flu, for this one.

I suppose he did much more, for us......

they had an actual baby for this roll, but it had a fever so they went with a doll. I always thought infant actors had to be twins, maybe not for so little screen time.

I've seen this movie twice, once on opening day and of course it was packed, and then 2 weeks after it came out and the place was still packed. I get there an hour early and there were 10 other people waiting. Both times the theater was silent while leaving and I got choked up at the end even though I knew the outcome...

You might have seen this before, but this is Clint Eastwood on "Inside the Actor's Studio." At about the 30 second mark see who is in the audience:

Passed in dollar amount, not attendance. Tickets cost more now than 1998, so it will have to make a lot more money to beat the number of people who saw SPR in the theater.

When I saw the movie, people applauded it at the end. Once in a while I see a movie where this happens, and it hasn't in a while.

I thought the movie was pretty good despite the embellishments, but I'm undecided as to whether or not it is Best Picture material.

When these are the movies nominated, I don't know how it doesn't win

The Nominees:

"The Grand Budapest Hotel" (Wes Anderson)
"The Imitation Game" (Morten Tyldum)
"Selma" (Ava DuVernay)
"The Theory of Everything" (James Marsh)
"Whiplash" (Damien Chazelle)

True fact: I have seen none of those films.

Well "Grand Budapest" was very interesting. I haven't seen "Birdman" yet nit it looks really good and I would like to. "Imitation Game" looks good also, but also like it might be one of those long and drawn out types of movies.
