One thing you shouldn't forget is that in reallife you probably won't be that close to the the sniper.
You would be further away like 1500ft and not 30-150ft like in the images.

If anyone knows how this works, I'd be very interested to hear it. I don't know about sights or man-portable units, but certainly the helo mountated FLIR images I've seen seem to indicate it's next to impossible to hide from that sort of thing, though perhaps only if the IR system is above you and there isn't a mile of brush in between. On the other hand, I imagine you probably don't send snipers after targets with those sorts of resources.

They mount Thermals on vehicles, if in doubt, use them.
