No map icons when tanks fire and no spotting icons, no icons for friendlies either, map references everything have to be called out, flanking or hiding is great fun. Friendly kills have been surprisingly low in the 30 or so battles i have been in. Moving across open fields is scary sh/t! Hull down on the edge of a forest, waiting for the enemy to appear and then causing chaos as they pass can get the blood pumping!

I let this T-34/85 pass as i didn't want to reveal my position and there were two Panthers about a click behind me hull down waiting for flank attacks that would take care of him. Call him out, let him pass and move forward.

My charges, two Panzer IV/70 tank destroyers. Had to do a quick run across a large open field to get to the cover of a forest and secure the flank before the IL2's found us.

T-34/85 in the forest, i was spotting for three Tigers moving in on the opposite flank and preventing a break out to my flank.

This poor bugger took hits and ended up stuck in the water. We took out an IS1 and a couple of T34's and then pulled him out. Had to leave him there once he was out to spot our left flank as his engine was trashed and half his crew dead.

Kill number seven on the far right flank, lost my team mate Tiger when we got surprised from behind by a KV1 and KV2. Took them out, smashed an su85 and su152 and three T-34/85's. Tiger took eight hits all up, had to put out a fire, sit dead repairing for a minute and a half which seems like a lifetime ! Blunted the attack and secured the flank.

Panthers on open ground moving forward.

Best mil fun i have had for a bloody long time. You can absolutely destroy teams who run off madly for cap points or lone wolf it down the middle, basically use no tactics. Hanging in groups of two, three or four and calling out enemy positions and then concentrating fire, using the terrain and having patience has made for some great games !

Simulation mode is great. Too bad nobody plays it on a regular basis. Last time I played, I waited 15 minutes for a match.

Same. Been struggling to get into sim matches because of the wait and mostly play RB because of that. The new event times are generally under a minute which has been awesome. The lack of any icons in this event/test over normal sim is the best part though.

This sim battle experiment needs to become permanent.

Yeah i sucked my first few sim matches and got scared and moced back to AB but got sick of the small maps. Moved into RB for a while and tried SB every now and again but as said above the waiting times can be painful. Get out of AB Chucky, the teams are terrible and the suicide planes even more biggrin RB still has icons on tanks when spotted but no magic marker around plus you get the big maps. Kursk, Mozdok and the enlarged Poland and Eastern Europe will hone your shooting skills pretty quickly because you get sick of getting shot yourself biggrin The main thing in sim is you can use tactics plus patience, even to an extent in RB ..until you are spotted.

Really hoping they keep this mode as it is the best of the bunch and it has been packed full since they started it, getting into games quicker than any other mode including AB.

No map icons now? Great! Thanks for the info. This might rekindle my interest.
You screenshots are gorgeous! Can't run at that level myself due to ancient rig and bollocks internet connection.

Been there, done that and feel your pain smile Those screenies are not full graphics though either, terrain is down as is particles and a few other things..the last shot with the Panthers had the grass and terrain on high though.

Could you please show a few screens from inside the beast?

There are no interior views per se. You either get the commander's view from the cupola or the gunsight view.

All tank sights are the same be it German, Russian or American smile It isn't a full tank sim in that regard, no interiors either, but each tank does have it's own quirks and they do all feel different to one another regards handling, speed, maneuvering, turret traverse etc. Tactics is where it is at for me with just enough feels like i'm in a ponderous Tiger tank with a great nasty 88 to have a ball.

Learning opposition penetrative points, learning the maps, knowing when to be hull down and wait and when to sprint across an open field has made it one of the most fun and nail biting games i have played in long while. Supporting tanks with ground attack planes in full sim mode is also brilliant when you have a good team calling out grid references or you are simply spotting for the ground units. The learning curve is fairly easy, especially for a simmer, but you can come across some really good players who know their tanks and the lay of the land..and that is where the real game is imo. Some of the one on one or one or two or three battles have left me with higher heart rates than normal biggrin

Cool! I hope they make this standard in Sim mode. This is one of the reasons I don't like playing RB while tanking, plus it takes forever to get a match.
