I am not going to lie. This thing is a pain in the arse. Done planes, helicopters, tanks, apc's, armored cars, lots of low and mid poly guns (oddly keep few of these. This thing for pain takes the cake. Something I never ever expected. Did not exactly realize how stupid complex this thing is. Vary hard to find photos that show enough detail. And its aimed at games. So cant go to crazy with polygons. Just pain. Going to be extreme pain when I to the LODs and unwrapping. Oh cant wait for that. My biggest concern is simply running out of budget. I want the bloody thing to do justice to 88mm. Have to decide if I want the trailer wheel things. And if so, how low can I go and get away with it? But optimizing the heck out of this as I go. Hopefully will not have any non-critical triangles about. I can tell you now. 20001. Give or take 5. THat is the budget and that's what it will be. The trailer... ugh. Well if I do that which I probably will. Will just call that a DIFFERENT model.

What reference books are you using?
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

I'm poor. None. Random stuff found off internet land. Lots of eye ball. Well one I guess. But hell if I know what it says. Its in Russian. Few words I can read. Like that, no, not, yes,... So the title it hmm. Tank in blablabla. Hmmm maybe I should have taken a few more semesters of Russian. Oh and actually used it. This is less than $20 from Amazon. http://www.amazon.ca/88-FlaK-18-PaK-1936-45/dp/1841763411

The anti-rivit counters will not understand this. That is worth counting rivits. Is the last pic the gunners seat, and the optics are missing?
Does anyone have an external pic of the optics? Someone needs to beg the optics collectors if it does not. Most period intelligence reports have the rectical.
that is very good.

Still collecting data for low poly gun sight. Have some stuff. But not quite ready to do it.
Rivets will be on normal maps. Large important bolts will be in mesh. Lesser ones in normal maps again. Can't go above 20K triangles so everything is a compromise.
Also there are areas that are right now flat WRONG with the mesh. Did not have the right data when I did them last week. Now I do so have to go back. But almost have all the got to have stuff in mesh. Looks like I will have maybe 3000 triangles left for improvements. Thank god. Should be a rather nice model for a certain game I rather like. Was not sure for the 1st few days if this was going to work. Glad its not headed for the trash bin.
Time will tell if the panoramic sight will get on top or just its dust cover. Also need to totally rework how the gun will fire. Made an OOPS in there. need to get that right. And also elevation to the skies will show some wrong right now. Well...fix fix fix away.
Hopefully it will pass the 1 percent rivet counter test when done.

Thanks. Will be blowing the last of the triangle budget on the shell fuzzing area. And need to finish the corrections to the gun recoiling bits. Gun is still not even attached to its little sled recoil thing. The shell loading cradle will not make it in. Was usually taken off anyways. Might dump the place holder barrel swab rammer thing for the same reason. Basically configuring more for a direct fire ground role. Well, that should be obvious sense the gun shield is in there. Thinking about doing a Flak 36 at some point with its trailer. Probably a totally stripped down gun intended only as anti tank gun. No fuzz setting station and all that. With the 18 it seems I went for duel use and static. DOing the trailers well would probably cost 8K triangles at minimum. Pretty complex in their own right. Or I guess just do them ultra basic.
