Intel Confirms ABF Substrate Shortage Going Into Q3 2021 For Consumer Chips, Expect [Intel Consumer] CPU Prices To Go Up
In terms of priority we are told Intel is dedicating the most resources to servers, then mobility and finally desktop consumer parts [take last place].
While price hikes due to demand-exceeding-supply are bad for gamers, they are going to be a boon for foundries and design houses like Intel in terms of revenue

AMD Navi 31 with 15360 cores may no longer feature “Compute Units”
Could those be the specs of AMD Radeon RX 7900XT?
Following Kopite7kimi’s claim that the next-gen flagship GPU called Navi 31 could feature as many as 15360 cores, another person appears to confirm this rumor.
AMD RDNA3 architecture should now debut in Q3 or Q4 of 2022. AMD is also developing Navi 34, Navi 33 and Navi 32 GPUs.
15360 cores is 3 times as many as RX6900XT! So, apply salt liberally. If it is that powerful, I assume it will be reflected in the MSRP.
If true, its something worth waiting for -- at MSRP.

AMD CEO confirms Zen4 and RDNA3 is on track for 2022 launch
AMD CEO and President, Dr. Lisa Su confirms during Q2 2021 investors call that both highly anticipated AMD product series is on track for 2022 release.
AMD expects the component shortages to continue throughout 2021, but with a good outlook for 2022. This means that AMD Radeon RX 6000 GPUs may continue to see increased MSRP for a lot longer than expected. Meanwhile, AMD Ryzen 5000 CPUs are now available at or close to MSRP in most regions.
AMD Zen4 [CPU] is expected to launch in the second half of 2022. The series would succeed the refreshed Zen3+/Zen3 3D V-Cache series, which are to debut by the end of this year.
AMD has not publicly confirmed the launch date for RDNA3 GPUs

Intel's Process Roadmap to 2025: with 4nm, 3nm, 20A and 18A?!
In today’s Intel Accelerated event, the company is driving a stake into the ground regarding where it wants to be by 2025. CEO Pat Gelsinger earlier this year stated that Intel would be returning to product leadership in 2025, but hasn’t yet explained how this is coming about – that is until today
If you only take one thing away from this article, I'm going to put it here front and center. Here is what we're seeing for Intel's roadmaps, based on their disclosures today [attached].
Intel Renames The Nodes: ‘Mine is Smaller’
the names of the technology are changing to better align with common industry norms.
Interesting that Intel says its "returning to product leadership". In other words, Intel admits AMD has the lead right now.
The attachments show their plan for the next few years and the new Node names. Competition is good

AMD Reveals Radeon RX 6600 XT Specs, Pricing, and Performance
AMD's Radeon RX 6600 XT will officially launch on August 11, 2021
AMD says the RX 6600 XT will launch with a suggested retail price of $379.
It will use a new Navi 23 GPU, which supports up to 32 CUs—and the RX 6600 XT will feature the fully enabled chip.
AMD says the RX 6600 XT targets 1080p gaming, and that the cache size was chosen to best fit that market, while keeping costs in check.
At $379 MSRP it Compares well with AMD RX5700 and Nvidia RTX3060. I expect MSRP will not be available a few minutes after launch.
For comparison, my $450 RX5700XT plays everything I want to play at 4K, ultra settings (except possibly MSFS2020) and smooth framerates -- often at 60fps for older games (my monitor only does 60FPS) -- smooth 30fps for up-to-date graphics intensive RPGs I own.
AMD provided the performance numbers. We'll see how it performs in independent tests when it releases. For now, it looks like a good, cost-effective choice at 1080p and 1440p. Based on my experience with AMD GPUs, I imagine it will do 4K also -- however, max settings and FPS to be determined.

To summarize a number of recent leak/rumor/speculative type articles concerning the near Future of GPUs:
Currently, GPUs by AMD and Nvidia are good but vastly overpriced.
By early 2022, AMD and Nvidia will release updated GPUs of the current designs. And, Intel may have its first GPUs on the market. Prices may be lower -- but, still above MSRP.
By late 2022 or early 2023, AMD and Nvidia will release the new 5nm GPUs. The fastest of these may be up to 3 times as fast as the current fastest GPUs. The power use on the fastest cards may exceed 500W. Prices may approach MSRP. However, the "super" cards will be very expensive -- even at MSRP.
Will the fastest cards really be 3 times as fast as currently? Will they be affordable? We'll see.
Personally, I'm currently planning to wait for the 5nm cards before updating my RX5700XT. The fastest late 2022 (or early 2023) cards may be 600% as fast as my card.

AMD Ryzen 7 5700G [APU] Review
Struggling to find a graphics card in these silicon-starved times? AMD may suggest that, with the new Ryzen 7 5700G [consumer APU], you might not necessarily need one for PC gaming today.
[APUs] led by the $359, eight-core Ryzen 7 5700G. It is joined by the $229, hexacore Ryzen 5 5600G and the quad-core Ryzen 3 5300G, which we don't yet have a price for. That's a little under the current pricing for the GPU-less Ryzen 7 5800X and Ryzen 5 5600X, and you're arguably getting more for your money too.
AMD has traditionally had strong integrated graphics solutions.
The 5700G has a base frequency of 3.8GHz and a boost frequency of 4.6GHz, yet it still has a very desirable 65W TDP.
Foregoing indicates the AMD 5000G series easily defeats Intel CPUs with "on board" GPU for gaming.
Foregoing from one of the over 2 dozen independent reviews -- linked in the attached article.

Regarding Nvidia's future acquisition of ARM.

NVIDIA Battles Delays In EU, UK & China For Its Planned Arm Acquisition
Chip designer NVIDIA Corporation's bid to acquire British design house Arm Ltd. is facing significant hurdles with the United Kingdom's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). NVIDIA announced its intent to acquire the British company last year and at the same time, it outlined that the deal should be closed by March 2022 at the earliest.
According to the details of today's report, not only is the U.K. "considering blocking a takeover" of Arm by NVIDIA after a report submitted to Mr. Dowden last month "contains worrying implications for national security".
Bloomberg's sources also believe that the national security concerns will result in a deeper review of the affair by the U.K.
This may just be "normal" proceedings. That is, authorities always check things out. The news media always tries to generate click-bait headlines. We'll see by March 2022 -- or later.

AMD Is Soaring in Popularity on WallStreetBets and Other Reddit-Based Retail Investor Discussion Forums
AMD is regularly featured in the list of stocks attracting the most attention of retail investors. With stock price gains of over 26 percent in the past month, this newfound fame of AMD among the retail crowd seems warranted.
if retail investors are now collectively turning toward high-quality stocks such as AMD, expect truly mammoth gains to follow. As an illustration, GameStop (NYSE:GME 146.8 -3.90%) is up over 700 percent, while AMC Entertainment (NYSE:AMC 29.84 -11.16%) is up nearly 1,500 percent year-to-date!

AMD Ryzen Desktop CPUs Continue To Lead Over Intel Core CPUs With Improved Availability, Zen 3 Currently The Best Selling Lineup At Major Retailers
Starting with the CPU numbers from MindFactory (the biggest tech retailer in Germany), AMD Ryzen CPUs continue to outsell Intel Core CPUs. Although the overall number of units sold has fallen tremendously over the last few months, AMD CPUs still maintain over 10,000 CPUs sold within June and July. Intel, on the other hand, sold less than 5000 units
The AMD Ryzen 5 5600X alone sold the same amount as Intel's entire Core lineup which is truly impressive. The revenue split is also a similar story with AMD retaining over 80% share while Intel barely hitting the 20% mark.

Regarding competition. Rumor/leak/data indicates new Intel CPUs to use even more power -- enough more that up-graders may possibly need a new power supply to provide the added watts and possibly need better cooling.

Intel Alder Lake ATX12V peak current recommendations are higher than Rocket Lake’s
People considering upgrading to Alder Lake will have to account for an additional 50 to 100W [versus previous generation CPUs] when choosing a new power supply. Verifying maximum current for a single-rail power supply may also be required.
Intel CPU performance definitely competes. However, to get competitive performance Intel continues to increase needed power and increase needed CPU cooler quality. Some have referred to this as a "factory overclock". It can add cost to the buyer's required PC hardware and adds cost to the buyer's PC power bill.

AMD's Ryzen 3D V-Cache Chips Have Been in Development For Years
AMD announced its 3D V-Cache technology a few months ago, demonstrating incredible performance gains from simply stacking more L3 cache, up to 64MB, on top of Ryzen CPUs
This installation process uses TSVs (through-silicon vias) via hybrid bonding to secure the second layer of SRAM to the chip. Because TSVs use copper instead of solder, the SRAM has significantly higher bandwidth and thermal efficiency than simply soldering the chips together.
3D V-Cache will give AMD CPUs a huge advantage over Intel in terms of raw L3 cache sizes .., which are becoming more and more important as CPU core counts increase.

Intel Poaches Anton Kaplanyan, Former NVIDIA Research Scientist That Pioneered RTX/DLSS Techniques
Anton Kaplanyan. He will be joining as Vice President of Graphics Research of Intel AXG Group and will be a key player in furthering gaming technology (including machine learning-based supersampling which Intel currently calls XeSS). Anton has quite the pedigree and was formerly a research scientist at NVIDIA and has even done a stint at CryTek.
NVIDIA's DLSS is one of the killer apps present in Turing/Ampere GPUs and Anton was part of the team that pioneered those approaches. His LinkedIn states "worked on RTX ray-tracing hardware design and simulation, invented the direction of 1 sample/pixel real-time denoising, applied machine learning to real-time graphics for the first time".
It is clear that Intel is getting deadly serious about its graphics ambitions.
