We still have VISTA (I know ... don't tell me) and I understand it's not supported. I just wanted to know if purely the fact of running WOFF V1.6 on VISTA, rather than Windows 7 or 8, could effectively limit the fps I can potentially get.

I just upgraded my RAM to 8GB (DDR2 ... not cheap). Running the 56 squadron scenario as a test I am still only getting peak fps of 30 with a more usual range of around 18 to 22 with the following specs:

CPU: AMD 3.1Ghz (this is dual core but I have tried setting the CPU affinity)
RAM: 8GB
GPU: NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 650 2GB
WOFF settings: 53355 (as suggested for medium systems), other detail/density settings Normal or Low.
Antaliasing on 'Override Application'

Of course I can drop the settings but I wondered if these fps are realistically what I could expect. I have got the impression from some posts that I could expect a little more. If so, I am happy to trawl the posts, looking at the graphics settings topics and testing out various configurations. If, however, the fps are unlikely to be substantially improved I don't want to be wasting my time.

I haven't really run WOFF much because of this, and am not even considering WOFF2 at the moment.

Does it seem possible that VISTA itself could be acting as a brake on improving my fps any further?

Oh, and ... happy new year to everyone while I'm at it!

WOFF 2.0 makes more of a difference than a new OS, video card or CPU. The reason is that AnKor's shaders take the load off of the CPU and transfer it to the GPU.

An example is my game PC: with all 5's and Win 7, a Intel i7 3970, NVidia 780 Ti playing WOFF 1.0, I got mid 40's FPS in the air. Installing AnKor's first shader mod upped me to 60 FPS in the air. With WOFF 2.0 new shaders, I get 80 FPS or greater in the air.

WOFF 2.0 with Ankor's new shaders with increased FPS is well worth the price of admission.

P.S WOFF 1/2 will run better if your Vista is 64 and not 32 because of the increased RAM needed in the game.

Ok, thanks. That's encouraging. I hadn't appreciated that why the shader increased fps. We do have 64 bit Vista so at least it should be using all the RAM it can
