We still have VISTA (I know ... don't tell me) and I understand it's not supported. I just wanted to know if purely the fact of running WOFF V1.6 on VISTA, rather than Windows 7 or 8, could effectively limit the fps I can potentially get.
I just upgraded my RAM to 8GB (DDR2 ... not cheap). Running the 56 squadron scenario as a test I am still only getting peak fps of 30 with a more usual range of around 18 to 22 with the following specs:
CPU: AMD 3.1Ghz (this is dual core but I have tried setting the CPU affinity)
RAM: 8GB
GPU: NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 650 2GB
WOFF settings: 53355 (as suggested for medium systems), other detail/density settings Normal or Low.
Antaliasing on 'Override Application'
Of course I can drop the settings but I wondered if these fps are realistically what I could expect. I have got the impression from some posts that I could expect a little more. If so, I am happy to trawl the posts, looking at the graphics settings topics and testing out various configurations. If, however, the fps are unlikely to be substantially improved I don't want to be wasting my time.
I haven't really run WOFF much because of this, and am not even considering WOFF2 at the moment.
Does it seem possible that VISTA itself could be acting as a brake on improving my fps any further?
Oh, and ... happy new year to everyone while I'm at it!
