I just bought this game and it won't run. I keep getting a MS Visual c++ runtime error R6034. When I get the popup I press OK and the game proceeds but the intro is very bad. The game will play once then has to be reinstalled again from scratch, at which point the cycle starts all over again.

I suspect this is an issue with Play Indie because I've never heard of this problem with other releases. Can anybody help with this?

Thanks,

Merry Christmas

Might be worth posting on the Graviteam SABOW forum. Some of the stuff in this thread may help:

Good luck!

Hi; Good idea except I tried probably half a dozen times to register over there and keep getting a message saying I got the answers to the verification questions wrong and I'm stumped.......(or really stupid).

I should also add that according to the Graviteam Manual, I have more than enough computer, etc. needed to run the game. I run XP Pro SP3 as well.

Thanks for the heads up, though. I'll go over there and see what I can find out in that thread.

Cheers!

Stupid publisher... That is the issue.

Yes go to the graviteam sight. Find the unoffical patches. Get the missing redistribute file from MS. Then after that it works great.

More issues post on the forum there. It will work after the patches and missing file. Like I said, retarded publisher of epic stupid.

Is it Steel Fury you have, then? Can't go wrong there, I fow one think SF's a lot better than SABOW because it's a staight tanksim, rather than a tanksim wrapped in a wargame.

you'll want to get it modded up rather than just play stock, Steel Panthers Mod (SMP) and the Steel Tank Add-on (STA) being the main ones currently in use, the latter more resent.

The NTA mod is available via here:

http://stasf2008.ephpbb.com/t6-steel-tank-add-on-steel-fury

I have some mission reports up at CombatAce which illustrate some of the mods in action:

http://combatace.com/forum/307-mission-reports/

Good hunting!

Hi Lima;

Unfortunately, I don't yet have Steel Fury yet. I've installed the demo though and I like the look of it. I'm just waiting for PayPal and my bank to finish off a transaction so I can buy it, When I do, I'll certain take your advice. I'm looking forward to playing it.

On the Steel Armor front, things are still not working and I'm at a dead end at this point. I've tried everything everybody has advised but no joy. I may just give my computer an acid bath to solve the problem, LOL.

When I tried to join the Graviteam Forums, I kept getting the trick question answer wrong. Steel.......? I kept typing 'Armor' and it should have been 'Fury'. All is well now.

Thanks for the heads-up on the Steel Fury mods.

Cheers

Guys, I got my problems fixed. It boiled down to installing the VCredistr from inside the sim, then downloading and replacing the starter.exe file. All is now well. Thanks very much for the interest.

Happy New Year.

Lima....What do the abbreviations stand for? STA; NTA; SMP? Can these mods all be used at the same time? Where exactly are they?
When I go to the download page I see all kinds of stuff and though they're listed in order, I'm not sure if they will even run on my computer. Also, are they all cumulative? Do they all run the game scenarios or do they use their own?

I'm trying to get a heads-up on this as I'll be buying the game end of next week and I'm trying to shorten the learning curve, if possible.

Cheers

STA stands for Steel Tanks Add on and NTA , New Tanks Add on, is the former name for that mod. STA is the latest and current mod for SF. SPM is Steel Panzer Mod. It's 2 years old and the predecessor of NTA-STA but still worth having.good and stable.

Hi Frinik. Happy New Year to you. Thanks for clearing some doubts up for me. As I continue to delve into this game, the more excited I become to own it. I'll be making my purchase in about a week. Right now I'm practicing with the demo version.

Thanks again.

Cheers!

Happy New Year to you too alpha_1. Please purchase it, you won't regret it. Once you see all the tank and other models present, all the mission packs , tons of new maps, new features added to the game every week, different season mods etc you'll have hundreds of hours of entertainment. I have been playing the game since 2009 with easily over 2000 hours in it. Plus the mission editor is not overly difficult and allows you to make your own stuff if you feel like it. Just add 'om' on the end of the link,Frinik looks to have cut it short.
