Am having a real dislike with the dirty canopy. When the sky is clear, it is tolerable, but with any fog or weather.........it is more than terrible and I would fire my ground crew for not cleaning my canopy! Needs a fix with the next patch, hopefully will happen.
The gun smoke when there is smoke.......is waaaay too much, but have noticed at times it is not as heavy or none at all. What's up here? Fix the smoke with the next patch as well, again hopefully will happen.

Looks bloody terrible when firing the guns on an overcast day. Almost impossible to track your target. I'm sure it will get fixed but not fun to fight at the moment.

Yeah, canopy dirt is awful. I'm not sure how much smoke there should be but it's much too smoky too.

Agreed gents. Not sure what they were thinking but both the canopy and smoke need some serious attention.

Anyone found a fix for the damn canopy? I'm literally speaking losing visual on MiGs when I'm out over the Black sea with this awfully low quality canopy. And that was with modified labels, that's how bad the canopy is.

You can drop the old canopy version into the cockpit zip file. That'll give you back the clear version. I think if you download Grizzly's weathered cockpit mod you can get the clear canopy glass file from that (just has the scratches like the Mustang canopy). I use most of the files from his mod and copy them into the F86 cockpit zip to overwrite. I don't replace the original file with Grizzly's file completely as I like the instrument reflections that were added in after he made his mod.

The gun smoke can be removed by renaming that shared smoke file in the bazar folder. I don't mind a little bit of smoke but the current version uses a shared file which must have been changed at some point for some reason and we've now got the blinding smoke. That's not going to be fixed until DCS 2.0 - apparently the builds they have for that don't have this issue - so I'm going with no smoke at all until that drops. I think removing that file can have other effects seeing as it's shared but I just fly A2A and haven't noticed anything. The description for the fix for the smoke is in the ED sabre forum - think it's the so who likes the new effects thread. Can't link at the moment as I'm in work and ED site is blocked.

Also every time the game updates you need to re-do these fixes as the files get overwritten / added back in.

Don't know about the rest of you, but I have fixed both canopy and gun smoke with help from friends out there.
Much better flying and fighting now.
