Many an hour spent in this game. Hopefully an XWAU version comes out on GOG soon

So this is where you've been! Pretty cool, that's very nice for a game that's around 15 years old.

I haven't jumped online in quite a while, but it's mostly due to real life time constraints. I have been workin' through my STEAM game collection however, but it's mostly Skyrim that manages to suck me back in. Alien: Isolation is, by far, the best game I've played in a while, but I still need to try and wrap it up.
Anyway, the interest in all things Star Wars w/ the Episode VII teaser prompted me to return to XWA, which is where I am today...

It's a crime that there hasn't been an updated version of this or Tie Fighter.
Maybe when the new movie comes out next year it'll spawn some new games. I know Star Wars: Battlefront is going to be released by DICE and I'm hopeful it'll be good. But, I miss the days of good space combat sims like the X-Wing/Tie Fighter games and Freespace 1 & 2.

A crying shame this was the last entry in the series. It deserved so many more sequels

A crying shame this was the last entry in the series. It deserved so many more sequels I loved it. The storyline was cheesy, but the custom battle generator was awesome. You could fly ANYTHING.

I've got my orig XWA discs here. I install it occasionally - there's some sort of bug that breaks the game just after I switch to the second disc. Great fun though. Modern space shoots definitely deliver greater visuals, but I don't think they improve much on the gameplay we had in this game series.
