I've been having fun with a Snipe campaign and was pleasantly suprised that a decent number of bombing missions are involved in the campaign. The Snipe can inflict quite a bit of damage with four 25lb cooper bombs. Where are these bombs carried by the Snipe? I see none mounted externally. Were they carried inside the fuselage? When viewing the plane in external view and dropping bombs, they suddenly appear below the fuselage. I didn't see any bomb bay doors opening when that game command was given. Here is a Snipe loaded with four 25lb bombs

Mudwasp, That's quite interesting. Probably an oversite that will get remedied in a future release. I wonder if the extra 100 lb's of weight is modeled in the flight characteristics for aircraft. I would expect it would affect handling and speed of climb

I notice the weight and drop my bombs if EA intercept us on route to target. My AI squadmates don't drop their bombs before entering into a dog fight. Ah, you say you notice the weight, that is a good thing, indicating that the flight model has been modified to model the xtra weight of bombs.

Yep, but it could all be in my head.
I'll take the Snipe out in free flight with a bomb load, trim it for level straight flight, drop the bombs and see if she still flies straight and level.
edit... The weight is modeled in there. On straight level flight, trimmed at 70% throttle, the plane quickly jumps up about 150 feet after bombs are released and then continues to climb about 500 ft total.

Great to hear that.Is fuel weight modeled? Yep, pretty sure fuel weight is modelled as well for both us and the AI.

We'll take a look later this evening at the Snipe loadouts.
Yes bomb and fuel weights are modelled and affect both Player and AI equally.

Every mission I always set my fuel levels and its good to know it is actually modeled. There are still issues with many planes not having correct bomb loadouts or dropping them all at once though and I wonder if that is a bug that the devs are having a hard time to crack. Not that we are aware re incorrect bombloads...we certainly are not having a hard time cracking anything. I think the issue here is we are not aware of any loadout issues at the moment? We can easily adjust the number of bombs per release - will look for next patch. WM

This is German side.
DFW CV drops all its bombs at once.Could be design decision?
Hannover C.LIII drops all of its 8-5kg bombs at once.Could be design decision?
Rumpler CIV says 8-5kg bombs but drops 5kg bombs x2....says 3 flares but drops 6 flares
EDIT-Roland C.II says it carried "Bombs: four 12.5 kg bombs carried under the fuselage" in wiki.

Regarding flares are we supposed to have the ability to select the colour of the flare we want to fire and would the AI honor the intentions of the flare? If this is not the case are the flares just for show? according to historical notes the following indicates what the coloured flares stand for. Link to thread about the use of colored flares Best Regards

EDIT-Roland C.II says it carried "Bombs: four 12.5 kg bombs carried under the fuselage" in wiki. Each craft is set up to drop a pre-determined ordnance number per release you can then drop another set if the craft has them loaded. THIS IS NOT A BUG. I am sure that you will find other loadouts that are 'missing' in WOFF - we have not modelled ALL load out types for ALL craft - just like we have not got all SQUADs and all AIRCRAFT moddelled. We will not be adding more loadout types at the moment. THIS IS NOT A BUG Flares are of no value at the moment and implementation is far from complete. We hope to have them eventually work as correct signals to your flight - at the moment they are fired off as 'bombs' hence the issue with firing them from certain craft - there is no single flare fire mechanism in many of the 2 seaters which are optimsed to drop their bomb loads rather than flares that currently have no purpose. No promises if/when this will be done. WM

WM Thanks for the fast responce. The 8 Le Prieur rockets also don't show on the Snipe. There should be no rockets on the Snipe - will be fixed. Edit Fixed now for 2.03 WM

Finally....Sopwith Strutter/B1 also missing bombs in extrenal model like the Snipe is.
I could be wrong but if my memory doesn't fail on me the Strutter carries the bomb load in internal bays hence why you don't see them "loaded". I also think that if you drop the bombs you'll see the bomb bay doors opening and the bombs falling.
