I realize that what Duke does isn't great earth shaking news or some bolt from heaven but just an observation and some (more) kudos.

Had about 90 minutes today and fired up multiple QC's and my Bristol campaign and tried everyone's SweetFX settings posted here and also tried some changes of my own.
I, on my machine with my eyes, found that SweetFX really did nothing visceral for me and that WOFF 2.02 with the new shaders is really quite beautiful on its own and needs no help looking great. It may have been a bonus in the pre- 2.02 days but no more IMHO. Flying on somewhat cloudy dawn with your flight is truly awe inspiring and if I ever meet someone who insists that WOFF is "just a CFS3 mod" I may have to lay him out like a rag doll.

So, (as if they need more!) kudos to the OBD team and everyone else involved.
And stop fussing with your graphics settings. Just max your current card out and fly!

I have not seen them.
I am not all close minded about things and will give it a shot on your recomendation.
The one good thing about SweetFX is the "on/off" switch for comparison purposes.
Thanks.

I didn't use SweetFX with WOFF for long when I checked it out.

I liked that it brightened the scene a bit, even without Bloom on, and that's something I really need. But at the same time it broke the WOFF screenshot hotkey and even after removing SweetFX, it was still broken. May have been other such issues, but I didn't use it long enough to find out.

I've been slowly lowering the Cloud Shadow settings to see if I can brighten things up but I don't think I can quite get it there with vanilla, either. Quandary.

Try my setting as I just changed the color slightly towards blue and added a tiny bit of bloom.Very miniscule change that for me makes the game look better.Again its all about your monitor though....

hi all, interesting topic

i for one am a huge fan of the sweet fx 'tweaks' to add even more beauty and realism to the obd gem...

we all see /perceive differently through our eyes and our monitors are likely fairly unique too

colors and tones are also extremely subjective and of personal taste

dial it all in to your specific likings! and do whatever it takes to pull you deepest into the woff world, buckle in and go flying

i find, in my sweet fx tweaks that a tiny bit of adjusmtents in the enabled 'sepia' section yellows the whites of the world up wonderfully - giving the same 'warm' cast sunlight gives to all the objects it hits

for me and my eyes / preferences i can get just the 'right' cinematic and 'vintage' real world feel that helps me enjoy the beautiful visuals all the more

cheers, Ron

Duke, I'm in your camp at the moment. I've tried SweetFX with various settings and prefer the stock WOFF look and feel. This could change in the future if my system changes because, as noted already, monitors and such can make a very big difference.

So far, I've been happy with changing my monitor "modes" to suit my needs.

Lou if you ever want some settings to play with try Wolf's above.
I still prefer stock but I like his settings the best so far - maybe with little tweaking I may become a believer.
One of my SweetFX peeves is the "artificial darkening" of the graphics.
That being said Wolf's settings minimize that but I still prefer stock however there is one thing about his settings that does make things look good. Hard to describe but it appears to help out the AA (already maxed) on my system but introducing a very slight "blurring" effect for lack of a better term that makes certain things look better from a distance but not so much up close.
I will probably play with them a bit as time allows.

Not had to lay anyone out over a game before... that's a new one, lol!
I've been messing with the sweetfx settings and I'm still not sure if I'll continue to bother with it. That will have to wait though.
Currently sitting in Mahajanga, Madagascar with my team waiting for a pick up, so I'll be away from the scene for a couple of months or so...
Have a good christmas you lot... and a happy new year smile

Regards

Dave S

Personally the default settings with version 2 are well good enough for me.
