Hey there!

NASA will launch the Orion Space capsule for the very first time on top a Delta IV Heavy very soon.

Launch time is supposed to be 7:05 am EST with an over 2 hour long launch window. The (for this mission) unmanned Orion will be launched to an altitude of about 3600 miles and then do a reentry and the splash down in the pacific.

You can watch all the action live here:

So long!

This is like watching American football.

Things are happening, then someone drops a flag and everything stops for no apparent reason.

I suppose that's better than it being similar to the 'other' football, where the rocket would suddenly fall over for no apparent reason. smile

But that rocket doesn't have any knees to furiously grab on to after it falls over.

No launch for today.

Problems with valves in 2 of the boosters.

Will try again in 24 hours.

Time for the second attempt. Launch time is again at 7:05 am EST with a 2 hour 39 minute launch window. Let's hope everything works out this time around. We'll probably see some spectacular earth views.

Link in my first post is stlll the place to watch.

Have fun!

NASA TV up and down like a YoYo which is par for the course for this stuff (wish they would upgrade the service as it happens every launch) anyway caught the launch via third party as others, was great to see and look forward to following progress, exciting times and makes one want to load up Kerbal Space Program for sure thumbsup
